How about this one from Target? Reviews look good, although I'm not sure how easy it is to keep a wool rug clean from a child? I have wool in other parts, but haven't needed to worry about it there. It also says the color isn't as bright as lime in the reviews. I don't want something strong as lime.

My son and his wife have a similar crib. Does yours turn into a toddler bed, then a twin bed as baby gets older?

Anyhow, she put a gorgeous solid light blue braided rug in front of the crib, of course my grandson's room is blue and white. lol. I think a rose colored braided rug would be beautiful. Apple green and rose is a pretty combo for little girls.

I like the jersey shags that the online rug stores sell. I've had a yellow one in my kids' room for several years. It's a nice soft place to sit a baby or for the bigger kids to sit and play or read.

Costco often has these huge sheepskins (six sewn together) for 99.00. I had one at the base of DS's crib forever (it's only gone now because our puppy isn't trained). It's easy to keep clean...little soap and water if it gets dirty, and it's really plush. He loved to play on it. And if you ever have to sleep by the crib...you'll love it to LOL

the idea of a braided rug is a good one. wool will clean up fine. in fact, with youngsters, you want to stay away from synthetic fibers as much as possible. see the link regarding VOC's

How I would love to have the sheepskin kind, but I'd be to afraid that a scorpion or a spider would hide in it. It really takes me back home though. Everybody has to have a baby pic on one in front of the FP.

I'm not a huge fan of braided rugs, but I love rag rugs. I seem to remember some brand name that has some bright colored fun rugs. I've seen the name mentioned on here before, but can't for the life of me remember what it is called. Might not fit my budget, but would love to see it.

How do you clean spills etc. on a wool rug? Good point about VOC's.

I got a great large wool rug at Ikea for really cheap. They had a lot of colors and sizes. The one I got is red but it's a more muted red. I stick to wool rugs because they don't hold odors like the synthetic rugs.

They also have a bunch of round rugs in different colors that would be very cute--I think they are in primary colors.

First of all...CONGRATULATIONS! I agree that I would make the rug color different from the bedding. You didnt mention if you know you are having a girl or boy. I would do a pink (for a girl), or blue (for a boy) or yellow (if you are keeping it neutral) rug with the apple green bedding.

Hmmm I have to go to IKEA anyways to pick up some frames for some posters I ordered for the nursery. So I'll have a look there too to see if there is something I like.

Thanks for the congratulations! I didn't mention what we're having because we don't know. It is a surprise we're saving for birth, but I'm not a fan of pink at all so that one is out no matter what.

The posters have back ground colors of red, yellow, green, and blue in more what I'd consider true primary colors.

Thanks D!! I looked on their clearance and there is a 4x6 that is wool and fits the budget. I'm just not sure on the colors as they don't have a good description of them. Seems like they might work though, need to check return policy.

lyfia, go to PotteryBarnkids.com and check out their braided rugs and or nursery furniture. They show rooms with the rugs in it. I don't mean you should buy one from there, but when I was shopping for my grandson a few months ago, the website had some nice pictures of braided rugs that inspired us. Whether on carpet or wood floors.

What I like about braided rugs is they come in a zillion colors now, plus they're thick and the edges stay down. And so comfy on the feet!

And I'd agree 100% about a braided rag rug -- that's what we had for DS#1, or if not that, wool. The great thing about braided rag rugs is that there's always the perfect color in there somewhere!

IKEA would also be a great place to look. I can see a lot of their typical blues and reds working very well with your green. They also usually have lambkins for not too much. Do you actually have a scorion problem *inside* the house?

Yep we do have scorpions that come in which is no different than any other bug. Not as bad of a problem as at our old house, but I found one sorting our laundry in the middle of the pile I pulled out of the cabinet we use to put dirty stuff in. Luckily I didn't get stung as they hurt a lot and for hours. Also a few others just running around on the floor. I don't want somewhere simple for them to hide that I can't easily see. We only saw 5 this past year, which is a lot better than at my old house where during the summer I usually found one a week, but it could easily change too.
