Do you and DH both work outside the home? Or do you anticipate selling your home to a dual career couple? Anyone who has ever struggled to get up, dressed and out before 7 or 8 am -- and there's another person on the same schedule -- must have dual sinks. In that case I'd find two toilets more useful than two sinks... We put two sinks in our 84" vanity, but in 60" I'd probably put just one, for counterspace. Dh is neater than I am and it wouldn't bother us to share.

1 sink vanity combos are typically not as wide as 2 sink combos. 1 sink combos can be as narrow as 18" and as wide as you want (prefab usually maxes out ~5-6'). When the builder talks about saving $$ by reducing to one sink, which components are shrinking? The vanity size, the countertop length, # of faucets, # of drains, # of sinks--all of the above? Odds are he quoted you the $1K based on reducing to a 24-36" or narrower vanity, 1 sink, 1 faucet, 1 drain, and reduced countertop length to 24-36" or narrower. There is no way that deleting 1 faucet and 1 drain will save you $1K. You need to get these answers first before you make any decisions. The bigger question is are you ok with those changes? How will they affect the layout, overall functionality for the # of people who will be using that space and aesthetics of the room? If you go with the "less expensive" option, will you then be looking for something to fill the void in the room left by the shorter vanity? Filling the void could end up eating the savings or even put you overbudget. Hope this helps!

I have the low divide Silgranit - you don't want the faucet to be able to rotate past the small sink and land on the counter top. it looks like the smaller bowl is 9 inches - so draw a radius with your 10 inch faucet reach and you should be just inside the perimeter - Don't worry about it landing directly over the bigger sink hole - some say yes but I am in the camp that it is better to land slightly in front of the hole and allow the water to wash things into the hole (and generally less splash - splash happens when the flow hits uneven surfaces) Your spray head(either pull out or pull down) will take care of the rest.

It's so simple! When there's a bathroom designed for use by more than one person, just think about how frustrating it will be if all of the facilities are behind one lockable door. First person in locks the door and no one else can access the facilities! If these are small up through adolescent children, think how long they remain in the bathroom looking at themselves in the mirror, using all the hot water and leaving a mountain of mess behind them when they eventually depart, sometime before day's end! What's the solution? It's so simple! Design the bathroom in a segregated fashion so that private usage (toilet and bathing) are behind one door. Better yet, behind two doors! Provide multiple lavatories and storage in another accessible space! Ta-dah! Everyone can use at least part of the bathroom at the same time! It's so simple!
