Looking for help on hanging a framed glass

Hello-

I would like to hang a framed stained glass (that

used to be a transom window from an old house) in the

doorway between my living and dining rooms. I am

hesitant to just screw in hooks in the frame and attach it

to a chain. Im afraid it would not be sturdy enough.

Is there any special hardware I can use to sort of wrap

around the frame for additional support? The window weighs

around 7 lbs and is 48" by 12".

Also, the wood of the frame needs to be finished and I'm

thinking either painting it white or staining it, which

do you think would be better?

Thanks in advance for your help.
