First let me say, wow, lots of beautiful counters!! Secondly, I'm not a fabricator or know that much about granite, but I don't think the seams are suppos to be that noticeable. Wait to hear from people who actually know about granite. I just had mine installed and could feel the seam, but only saw it when I really looked for it.

I agree with laxsupermom. I don't think it's that the joints are too big, but rather they didn't color the epoxy seaming resin properly. Try the magic marker trick, but ONLY after calling your fabricator back and having THEM take a look at it, and see if there's something HE'S willing to do to help.

That is a chip for sure. I realize due to the weight and size limitations to granite, especially when sink cutout are made, seams can be tricky. However, I've seen many of tops, including ours where the seam is not at the sink. Visually, this is the worst place for it to be, a focal point where most of the chores and water exposure will occur. I would rather have an additional seam if needed than have one right at the sink. Using a marker is a cheap way of covering up a bad installation.

Did anyone else try larry's magic marker trick?? Would love to try it, but a little nervous...any pictures??

Those are very nice seams, we can call them up to industry standards. What you call a 'chip' looks like an installation flaw. Installers usually create an inverted "V" so that the upper portion of the stone is tight, while the bottom portion of the stone will have space for some adhesive, they did a good job at adhering both pieces together. It looks like the installer grinded to far to the front on the piece on the right hand side, it is not as bad as some I've seen, but it will be good to let the GC know that you noticed this, see what their solution will be.

The darker materials are always problematic at seams, for some installers. Take Bill's suggestion, have your fabricator take a look at it before anything else. I see that they are not finished, they still have all that dust to clean :) I've personally have used the 'Magic Marker' before and it works great. Another option, the one I currently use, is to apply the color then apply a sealer on top, that way it will last a little more than just applying the magic marker.

Just remember a seam is a seam, for the installers to have these tight seams on Blue Pearl, I'll give them a 9 out of 10, just because of the sink issue. Are you adding some nice lights to complement the stone? You should, the Blue Pearl really stands out in the light.

The fabricator is coming out to take a look tomorrow. I did try the magic marker on a little test site, and it worked great - so I got that going for me, which is nice. :-)
I WOULD like to add some lights - I said the same thing to my DH - the bluepearl looks so pretty with the light shining on it.

We have Ubatuba granite and when it was first installed, I was also worried and posted here. But our GC finished it nicely after all the granite work was done and put the epoxy, it is not very noticeable now or I should say, I dont keep looking out for it! The seam in our case is next to the sink about one foot away, not in the middle.
