Must ditto Jens' comments. Lots and lots of lovely spaces posted here, but I did want to ask if yours, jant, is located along the northeastern coast? I love it when a home reflects its locale. Yours could be in any coastal area, but just looks very Maine-ish to me, and wondered if I'm right? Wherever, it is lovely and cozy! Nice arrangement of that quilt/throw, btw. Gorgeous stone fireplace, too.

Well, you might not believe but guess what I'm doing as we speak??? Wiping down my bookshelves! Half the stuff is on the floor....I'll probably neva get them back in their original place! It all started when I saw something plastic- like on one of the shelves...in my photo. When I went to see what it was, I was viciously attacked by DUST!!!

Actually, I did throw them up there. Right outta the moving boxes...snort.

Things like yellow flashlights really make them POP too....well, I have to adjust the thermostat in the morning and so it goes...utilitarian. :)

I'll be happy to post more when I'm done...probably next year...lol.

I hear ya about being viciously attacked by bookshelf dust. I tend to put off doing mine way too long, but the mere thought of getting in there and getting down to dusting business sends me into a sneezing fit.

If you did throw things up there right out of the moving boxes, you sure do have a knack for artfully letting things fall where they may! I will greatly look forward to seeing more pics from you -- and hopefully soon (keep dusting!).

Leah...you're close. We're in northeastern MA; about 5 mins from the harbor town of Newburyport, MA. We're just a few miles from the coast. We go to Maine quite a bit...love just 'splorin!

Jen don't you believe Jan for one minute - yeah, she just threw stuff up there but what she doen't tell you about is the magic fairy dust she uses. Everything she touches gets this, this look..... comfy, warm, and totally inspired without ever looking like she tried. Not that I'm jealous or anything. Nope. Not me. Not one bit. Ask her about her kitchen - go ahead - just ask.

Glad to see that you've finally come out of lurkdom over here, Jan! DLM's right, Jan is an very talented decorator. She's the one who helped me come up with solutions to a number of my design dilemmas when we were planning our big kitchen reno three years ago. Wait till you see pics of the rest of her house!

I haven't seen any of Jan's photos in a long time, but I do have one saved from many years ago, (and another house too, I believe?) where she used Benjamin Moore's Baby Turtle and made me fall in love with the color. In my house, it isn't so light and airy looking, but that's ok. I still love how it works with everything!

Well, y'all have been busy!

Red...actually that isn't the BT lol. It was the first green which I found a little too sagey...especially at the north end of the room where it went almost grayish. Not good! It wasn't far off from BT but it was too cool for me. Went to the next strip and found the Turtle. I can't believe that was what....almost THIRTEEN yrs ago??!!

Lori...I did NOT "do up" your home...other than donating/selling things for the cause! Maybe I hung a mirror lol??? You've done 99% of it girlie. I really think you've developed a pretty good eye since you've moved into the new house!
