Did you try the robin egg blue? From the pictures it looks like it would be pretty, with what you have now, if it is sandy, cream & orangish tones coming across on the monitor correctly. Black would work also.

Stainless steel would also work, because your hardware is stainless steel.

Will you have curtains?

Lovely backsplash, especially the herringbone pattern. I'd keep your robin's egg blue tea kettle unless this blue is going to clash mightly with your planned new color scheme or the kettle is defective and needs replacement.

You don't have to match your appliances too closely to your walls, cabinets and countertop. To much matching makes your decor perfect but leaves it feeling stiff and impersonal. You have a great neutral backdrop to enjoy some color. sometimes when we have spent an enormous amount of energy, money, time and emotion decorating a room we forget to relax and just enjoy what we already have in place from before the reno.

Another vote for trying the blue - it would seem to work with the orange tone of the cabinets, and I am guessing the Cornsilk paint color is a yellow tone, which would also work with blue. If you did change, I would go with a strong blue like and electric/royal blue.

I would go with a white metal (meaning chrome, nickel or stainless) if you want it to blend. Unless you want it to add "pop", and then I would go with whatever color you are using as an accent (the vanilla you mentioned, the Chantal garden green would be very nice).

I have a polished chrome kettle. The only thing I don't like is that it inevitably gets splattered from cooking, so I'm forever cleaning it. Brushed metal would show that less.

I'm thinking an antique copper would be nice, maybe even with a white ceramic or blue delft accent on the handle or something :)

Why not! Looked for a copper kettle. Also found this nice soft apple green one which I thought you might like. I particularly like the satin copper as a finish, but only saw one pot in it. Of the copper, I guess I prefer the two on the burners :)

I guess I shy away from the blues as the kitchen is open and my primary colors are greens, a bit of reds and some yellow. It was also mentioned here at one point that the blue was "distracting".

My initial thought was to go with a copper kettle. I love the Chantal copper kettle, but it is pricey at $160. My current blue Chantal Kettle was a bragain on clearance at Williams Sonoma for $11...yes $11:):)!! It is about 5 years old, so I certianly got my dollars worth...lol.

Thank you Squirrel:) Can you believe that in one week I got shutters, a backsplash and the bedskirts for my boys rooms:) In the next few weeks I will have a lot of before and after pictures to post...then onto the pink nursery...totally new territory for me, the the mother of three boys.

Some enamel finishes, and some stainless. (If this is Chantal's copper kettle, I think it was $130 w/free shipping online -- Cookware.com maybe it was. Anyway, there are some discounts out there if you find what you want! Not that that's not an expensive teapot! Maybe a sale though :)

I think the copper gave the area just the look you needed.
You can find mark-downs on copper at HomeGoods, TjMax, etc.
It tends to make it hard to pay lots for home decor like a pot when you know a bargain can be found.

Great buys are out there.

I have a couple of Chantal pieces. Try Marshalls, Ross', or TJMaxx for great prices.

I think copper would look fantastic in your kitchen but stainless would go just as well.

Just a word of warning...you will have to polish the copper kettle if you want it to stay bright and shiny. I have always had copper ones and they do get water spotted and develop the greening really quickly. I polished them every month or so but they never look new again.

Try TJ MAXX. Home Goods or Marshall's; They always have kettles marked about half off regular price. Although it is harder to find copper there.

I love the copper and stainless. I prefer, functionally, a stainless kettle, but the copper is awfully pretty.

It's a tough decision.
