If you were on a budget what would sprays? I have damage...
Comments (19)thanks for the advice! I sprayed a nice dose of Daconil on the leaves and removed the rest of the yellow and ones with holes. I am hoping the current hot weather will help keep the fungus away :) I over planted to help with the possible losses. I guess since the last 2 years I had very little tomatoes I am trying more this year. I never sprayed before and just planted more so I could have something if the bugs or fungus attacked. abayomi, I wish there was ocean water around here!!!! I did pick up some fish fertlizer. YUCK it stinks. I thought since it was cheaper and I could mix it as I go it would help. My worm compost only is not enough and I know that. It helps but I needed some more. My hubby was not happy I bought daconil and fish fertlizer. However, for us to harvest some veggies over the summer it was necessary. I hope I can limit the use of the sprays as much as I can. For now I will spray as needed. I have several plants that look awesome and are growing quite well. The ones with the problem are not the ones I was most excited about growing so I will be ok if I lose those. Karen...See MoreNorthstar vs. Big Chill
Comments (50)I've had the WORST experience with Big Chill. I ordered the Retropolitan Fridge in CORAL on April 8. Understanding that there are delays due to Covid, etc. I was originally quoted ship date of 6/30. 6/30 came and went and I reached out for an update. After sending 5/6 messages via phone and email someone finally responded a week later and told me that now it would ship "between 8/15 and 9/15, could be sooner, could be later". Finally shipped 8/26. Scheduled delivery for 9/17. Fridge is brought into the house and is RED. I refused delivery and frantically reached out to Big Chill to find out what was happening. Took another 5-6 emails/calls to finally get an answer from someone in Shipping who was able to tell me it was a computer glitch that spit out "Red Coral" rather than Coral and I'm not the only person this happened to. She says someone will call me in the next 2 days to confirm when my correct fridge will ship. A week goes by, again I send 5-6 emails/calls and someone finally gets back to me to tell me they'll get back to me with a new shipping date. In the meanwhile a friend told me someone she knew was dealing with the exact same issue, wrong color delivered and having issues getting the right one. I decided to cancel the order as this was just so unbelievable to me and customer service was barely apologetic. I literally designed my whole kitchen around this fridge and I WANTED this fridge. I am so disappointed in having to cancel but I don't trust a company that doesn't even double check the color that you ordered or respond to calls/emails without being harassed. I requested a full refund on Monday 9/20 and still waiting for the credit to come through. Hoping this will help someone else avoid the frustration I've dealt with for the past almost 6 months....See MoreBig Chill Pro Style (manufactured by BlueStar)
Comments (28)Hey, I'll give an update. So now I've had the stove for 3 years and a couple of more observations. First of all I hate cleaning the thing. It isn't that easy to keep it completely spotless the stainless steel lining underneath the burners is very hard to clean without scratching it. They were a couple of burnt on spots that I tried cleaning with Bar Keepers Friend and it still ended up scratching the stainless steel. Also the grates themselves have developed rust spots on them and I don't know if that is normal but it doesn't look great. I have tried not to use any steel wool or harsh abrasives on them just soap and water but that doesn't seem to have mattered. A couple of other observations. First, the burner lighters are a little wonky. Sometimes when I turn the burner on, the solenoid will still continue to click even after the burner is lit and it can go on for 30 seconds or even a minute before it stops. Also when I am using the stove and the oven at the same time the stovetop will suddenly deform with a loud bang and sometimes will throw the ceramic burner cover off of the burner. I guess overall I am happy enough with it I have not placed a service call because none of the issues are worth bothering to call service for. I will say that keeping the top looking like new has been a struggle that I have given up on. If I sell the house people are going to have to understand that the stove has been used I clean it but it's not going to look new anymore. If you are the type of person that needs to keep the stove looking pristine then you might want to consider another option. On the positive side the burners cook well they are powerful and I enjoy boiling large pots of water and doing stir-frys with the power that I have. The convection oven is a dream it cooks all sorts of things really fast. The broiler is very powerful but I find sometimes when I open the door to check on the food if the broiler is on the flame will come shooting out of the oven and it's a little scary. I do not know if other people using the stove have noticed that. Would I recommend this stove to other people? Would I buy it again if I had the chance? I would have to say probably not. I would probably have sprung for the electrical upgrades so that I could have gotten a induction range instead. It looks great and that's why I really bought it so I guess I can't complain too much. It works okay with some of the quirks I mentioned. Buy one because you like the way it looks but if you are looking for a top performing stove and oven you might find others that are better....See MoreWhat would you do? Countertop damage...
Comments (9)Warranties almost always exclude consequential damages (something else being damaged because the product malfunctions). Also, you didn't ask for service when you first noticed there was a problem and it might not have needed a repair because the swelling might have gone down when the problem was resolve; you waited until the damage had gotten worse. On Bosch dishwashers, I have mixed feelings at the moment. Our Bosch dishwasher stopped with a warning code that indicated a leak had been detected. It happened after the initial warranty expired but it was still covered by a parts warranty. On the positive side: When the first repair didn't work, we didn't have to pay labor for the subsequent visits. When multiple repairs didn't fix the problem, Bosch gave us a replacement dishwasher. Our model was no longer available and the one they gave us is slightly better. The old dishwasher was quiet and the new one is even quieter - I only notice it running when I stand near and listen for it. The need for repair may have been partly because we should have been using its water softener and weren't so some things got clogged with hard water deposit (we never had a problem with that with our older less fancy dishwasher). The dishwasher cleans very well and we find that the trays including the flatware tray make it very easy to load. On the negative side: Between waits for parts on multiple repair attempts and then several weeks wait to get the replacement approved, it was well over a month between the initial failure and installation of the replacement. Fortunately the service technician was able to tighten things enough to allow the old dishwasher to work on the short cycle while we waited. The low salt warning keeps coming on on the new dishwasher even though salt is loaded - the repairman is scheduled to come out again today....See Moreaunttomichael
