progress on my cabinet installation - Day 2 (pictures)

After 4 months without a kitchen (a long story some of you have read about), our cabinet installation finally started yesterday. As you can see from the pics, the installers are making serious progress!!! I am scheduled to have the granite template on either Wednesday or Thursday of next week, but have not decided on the granite yet - I am in big trouble!

I just could not wait to share pictures!

Wow, those are beautiful cabinets. I love the detail around the sink base. And what a lovely, rich color you have. Gorgeous even in this unfinished state!!

Do you know yet what cabinet hardware you're getting? My door style is similar to yours, and I'm looking for ideas.

I'm happy to report that the cabinet guy is back today and, after we shared a chuckle about my mishap (yes, I'm laughing about it now)....he went to work disguising it. He has touchup paint that should do the job. (crossing fingers) But, in the end, it's just a kitchen and is meant to be used. I already have a backup plan...when my pristine white cabinets get *worn* I could always switch to a Shabby Chic look! lol!!

jhophop...we are in the process of assembling and installing our kitchen full of Barker cabinets. The wall cabinets do not have hanging rails. They have 3/4 inch thick plywood nailers on the back of the cabinet, top and bottom and you screw through those nailers into the studs to attach the cabinets to the walls. They do not use an Ikea-like system of hanging rails. So far we are extremely pleased with the quality of our Barker cabinets but we just got them so I can't speak to their longevity with first hand experience but they are so well built that I can't imagine them not holding up like any other similar quality cabinets.

Thank you everyone.. The floor is concrete stamping and hardwood around that. When my dh built the house himself and no his isn't a builder. I met him when the house was just finishing up. He actually instead of flowing the hardwood through the kitchen in his mind it was here is the kitchen let's outline it.. LOL He laid tile in it. But due to the fact we are a concrete company - he decided last year the broken tile had ton come up. Beleive me I begged for the hardwood to go throughout. But then we decided what the heck let's try the stamp able overlay in the kitchen. Kinda a testi..we always do stamp able overlays on slabs, lets test it on plywood. Its held uo good for the past year. Iam just tickled pink I got to paint the cabinets and do my thing. Again thank you everyone fornyour kind words. Carol

dkbc - yep BM Satin Imprevo WATERBORNE in White Dove. Fresh start primer. Marthavila - we are so beat. We're in NJ and the heat and humidity were just oppressive today. I was working in the garage because, as I found out yesterday, DH banging about causes me to lose concentration and mess up on my painting. My "W" monogram tile, pendant lights for island and faucet should be in Monday or Tuesday. Hooray! Electrician is coming tomorrow to start installing recessed lights and make way for island light and sink light. DH will install those after they come in. Granite is being installed August 2. Back splash installed August 3. 40th birthday party, August 14... cutting it close!

How exciting! Your cabinets are beautiful. I especially love your sink cabinet, very classy. They demo'd my kitchen today. I can't wait until my cabinets are in. You must be so happy! Enjoy!

Thanks everyone. Glad you liked the flutes (I think that's what they are called - or are they?) on each side of the sink. We were originally aiming for a 3-inch bump out, but due to plumbing issues, etc, we are only bumping out by 1.5 inches. Although I was not happy about that part, I still think it looks quite nice.

We are so excited to come home and see the progress.

We are getting simple bar pulls (see below)

I love the color of your cabinets. We're going with bar pulls too, for that clean-lined look. I can't wait to see your kitchen when it's done.
