artificial Christmas tree
Comments (7)B, did you find your tree? The website where I bought mine had sold out of the white lit tree, but I remember when I used to have white lights on my green tree, in the daytime when I turned it on, I couldn't really see the lights because of the sunlight. I'm hoping with the multi-colored lights it will make the tree colorful in the daytime. Which reminds me, a few years ago I bought the "retro" big lights for our tree, they were just gorgeous, but they got so hot! Neesie, yes they do fold easily! No more of sticking the branches in the little holes! lol...See MoreHow do I get a real Christmas tree smell with an artificial tree?
Comments (31)Wow -- I want to thank everyone who recommended Thymes' Frazier Fir diffuser. This is our first year with an artificial tree and I really missed the smell. Knowing GW, I did a search and found this perfect thread (!); going to the Thymes' website I found a local (I mean a seven minute drive, door to door) charming shop I'd never seen before. It was incredible! And for whatever reason, they sold it to me for $30 (it should've been $60); I protested but they said "no, that's the price." So I bought a few other bibelots to ease my conscience (and it wasn't hard because it was one of those incredible shops where you want to just move in!). Right down the street from this shop a man was offering hay wagon rides, so my four and two year-olds, husband and I all hopped on and had an incredible ride around this sweet and historic downtown. Then we found an outdoor skating rink, so we rented some skates and pulled each other around. On the walk back to our car a man was handing out homemade candy canes from his candy shop. My four year-old loves candy canes! And all of these wonderful things happened to us today because the generous people here on GW shared Thymes Frazier Fir diffuser. So now I have this gorgeous smell, know about this wonderful local shop, and had a wonderful, serendipitous Saturday. Thank you!...See MoreMost realistic artificial Christmas trees?
Comments (8)I just have a couple questions/comments regarding pre-lit. How many years do the lights last? What happens when the lights start going out? Can you replace them? If not, can you at least remove the spent bulb? It seems a shame to spend all that money on a new artificial tree and then have it looking tacky in a few years when the lights start going on. Also - does it ever annoy you to not be able to change light colors? I have gone through "moods" over the years when I wanted white lights... all green... multi colored... with a pre-lit, you are locked in. Interested in any thoughts on these matters - we are in the market for an "upgrade" to our cheap artificial tree we have. I'll be looking after Christmas for a good deal. :) I switched to artifcial a few years ago so that I could start decorating earlier and take my time taking it down. I do miss that fresh tree scent....See MoreBuying an artificial Christmas Tree
Comments (17)Great idea, Igloochick, about the smoke detector! We always had Noble Firs but by the time Christmas Eve arrived no matter the care, misting and watering, the needles were just too dry to turn the lights on. Four years ago, after research and comments on this forum, I ordered a 9 1/2 foot tree from Tree Classics. My husband built a base that secured the tree and elevated it to the height I needed. It is beautiful, in four pieces, prelit, and most everyone that sees it thinks it is real. Tree Classics sends a huge box of sample branches and you can actually see and touch the different varieties. If you order, the $20+ fee is credited to your purchase. It is an extremely heavy tree but I think it will outlive me; I consider it a great investment....See Moreteacats
