Kitty? We're waiting for your paint delima update! =)

Well? What did you decide? And are you done yet? huih? I did a venetian plaster treatment on the little niche in the dining room.. but omg so MUCH work!!! I ache all over... and it's still not done. Unfortunately I have to go to work today. I just want to get it all done!!!!

oh yeah and purple dust EVERYWHERE!

Sorry it's been quite the drama here! AGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So they did the living room first, with the Restrained Gold, and I HATED it. It looked bright yellow and I was freaking out. I let them finish it though, thinking maybe it would darken and grow on me... I am still waiting for that to happen LOL. I think b/c it's such a large room with tall ceilings and tons of wall space, the mustard is really overpowering. I'll post some pics in a sec.

So then the painter says, well if you don't like this, you will not like the Blonde you picked for the entry, b/c that's even brighter yellow. So now I was stuck...all my painstaking paint-color-choosing was for naught! He said I had to pick another color right then and there or they were going to leave. I was so stressed out!! NOTHING was going right. I was almost in tears LOL. My husband has been out of town for weeks so I'm doing this all on my own, and my toddler was being a royal pain and it was just a stressful day. So I just asked him what color he would suggest, to go well with the RG, but not too much yellow. HE said Latte is very popular, and I had the swatch for it here, and though it looked very blah, I just said OK and trusted him.

So then they paint Latte in the entry...and I don't like it either. LOL! It's just blah brown. A nice color if that's what you're going for, but I don't want blah brown to be the first thing you see when you walk into my house, KWIM? Sooooooo, I made them stop halfway through that area LOL! So now I have a bright yellow living room, a half-painted brown entryway, and nothing else....because I couldn't choose a kitchen color for the life of me. It gets worse and worse LOL!....

So the chair rail guy never showed up so the painter had to call another one. He finally comes today...and doesn't have enough material to do either of the rooms, so then he leaves to go hunt down some more chair rail and never returns. So the dining room hasn't been painted at all, nor the art niche, nor the kitchen b/c I couldn't decide on a color, and I wanted to wait to see how the DR and LR looked first b/c those influence the kitchen color.

SO there you go! Sorry if this doesn't make sense LOL. I had to drink 2 glasses of wine last night just to calm myself down. WHY oh WHY is nothing working out the way I planned?????

Oh but one thing did go well. They stripped and restained my stair banisters this beautiful cherry color (they were light oak before) and they look great! Of course, there was a snag with that too... I happened to come out and look just as they were applying the stain, after hours of stripping and sanding, and it was the wrong color! Thank God I happened to come out at that point. So then we had to go to SW and get a new stain right away; he let me pick it out. And thankfully it looks great.

Is that enough update for you LOL? I'm going to post pics and see what y'all think of the new paint... Sorry to ramble on; I'm exhausted and very stressed out!!!!!!!

How are you LOL? You did RG too right? How did it turn out??? I've been thinking about you!!!

Oh and I want to see your venetian plaster!! I bet it looks awesome! What colors did you use?

Good Morning All; I discovered even more seeds in my package, not too bright!! What amazes me is how well Chris cleans her seeds and marks her packages. I am not that good. I leave a significant amount of chaff in some of my smaller seeds. There was a time when that was recommended as it is easier to sow them if they do not all fall out of the package at once. At least that is my rationale and since I am challenged at cleaning seeds, "that is my story and I am sticking to it. What that means is that I have sent Chris seeds but they will need a final cleaning before she can plant. She certainly seems up to the task but I feel bad about it. Sorry Chris. I tended to some roses today, but that was the extent of my yard work. May squeeze some more in, but it's doubtful. Electrician looks to have another full day of work Monday. He found some interesting things in my walls that made it take more time. Plumber moved the gas line from previous gas dryer to new gas range (I've got to check the specs...looks high and looks like it sticks out quite a bit) and moved the one supply line for the washer over as needed. But...I think it's too tall. But that should be easy enough to cut down if needed. I emailed GC, plumber didn't fix sink plumbing yet. Supposed to get new angle stops etc. GC's wife called and said that's no biggie, it'll get done before cabinet install, or even after. I said since they're leaking, I'd prefer it was before. She didn't know they were leaking, so it will now be before. My big accomplishments for the day were nailing down almost all lighting issues, I think. I bought the recessed lighting things (I don't know what they are each called...the attach them in the ceiling part and the plug them into that part...but don't call it a bulb), a few dimmers, one receptacle with usb holes. I ordered a few more lighting/switches related things on Amazon and should be here Sunday. And I emailed and talked on the phone with Environmental Lighting and got a plan for my UCL. I'm sure I could have pieced together something less expensive, but I understand this and can install it myself, so that'll be a savings in itself. Also, I confirmed that I need one less outlet for the UCL installed, so that will save. I 'adjusted' a few things re: the electrician's work. The GC had drawn the outlets smack-dab in the middle of the backsplash. I had him move them down and over on either side of the range. I didn't ask the one in the middle of another wall to be moved, though it probably could be. I may end up asking about that if it wears on me this weekend. And I also asked him to install an outlet in the utility cabinet so I can charge my hand vac, Braava, etc. Tacos just arrived. :)

What a wonderful playful looking space! Great green accents. I like how the added lights in the curved ceiling section really plays up the architectural lines. Really makes it a standout feature. Love all the drawers, the backsplash (of course!) and the improved layout. Thanks for sharing your LED color temperature solution. That drives me crazy too when they're not the same. It has been difficult to find the more neutral color temps (forget the exact kelvin temp at the moment), so your solution sounds great! I saw this really cool Lutron dimmer that reminds me of your space and would look really cool if it could work with your Insteon (I'm not familiar with this) dimming system, or if not, maybe something separate. In a single or a double switch plate, there is a thin vertical slot that has Green LEDs (also comes in Blue or White) that you can touch anywhere for the dimmer (all the way up is full On and any position lower is dimmed by seven levels I believe). And there is a small Amber light at the lowest point that softly glows when it is all off so you can find it in the dark. The wall plates are available in the 10 standard colors and 11 brushed metal colors so you could get a brushed aluminum or stainless steel looking one to match what looks like what you have (see the picture below). I'm going to use these in my bar in the Blue to coordinate with the granite countertops there, so just thought these would look cool in the Green for your great space. This is one of the most distinctive dimmers I have seen. The picture below is of the single in the Green with an aluminum plate (also comes in a double plate as well) and a link with the specifics.
