Need color help ASAP - painters are here!

Oh boy, do I need help! I hope this is not too long, but it has all the info (wish I had a digital camera).

My bedroom and Master entry hall have just been painted with Springfield Tan and the carpet is gray in those rooms. The entry hall leads to the Master Bath, which has white tile floor with gray grout, brown oak vanity cabinets (can be painted), almond toilet and shower tiles, beigey jacuzzi, cultured marble two bowl sink top with veining of brown. Huge mirror walls over the sink area. The ceilings are 15 feet at the highest and it slopes down to the 8' tall window wall over the jacuzzi. The metals are chrome on the shower and fixtures and lightbars.

I have a 25 yr old 4x6 chinese wool rug I like in that room which has royal blue and lighter tones on a cream background with touches of gray and salmon.

I just bought 3 posters (photographs) of white orchids and dogwood on black which we love to go on the 12' long tall wall, over the towel bars and various switches. This is the only wall for art. I will sew something like a cafe curtain for the wall over the tub, so there's lots of options there for color/pattern.

I've kind of decided that I like an analogous color scheme, trying to create a soothing space but with wow accents, like the rug and the art.

Do you think it can be done?

Your room sounds wonderful. Will you pick up any of the colors in the rug into the room? How big is your room overall?

Wish you had a digital camera too - I got one about two years ago and I can't live without it now. Used to have a 35 mm but it has been so helpful here for me. I wonder if there is such a thing as a disposable digital camera you could use? Would love to see your space.

I agree with the direction you are looking. A paler version of the background color will give a soft contrast, richer look and pull it together. The print is bold enough that you don't need to accentuate it with more in the wall color. I think I agree with Annie on the Celadon, but you'll need to see it in the room and next to the white and the fabric to check the tone and contrast. The Creme Fraiche looks like it would be great too. Besides checking the tones of the color, consider that the softer creme fraiche will make the fabric stand out as a bolder choice while the celadon will give less contrast but a brighter all over color to the room.

Had to go back and look at the floor with the French Linen and it looks like yours is very close to the photo. For resale, I would do French Linen. It looks new and fresh. The Old Ochre looks like it could be something from 20-30 years ago and may not look new and fresh to many of your potential buyers. You posted while I was typing = look forward to seeing how the samples look in your kitchen.

Miranda, Thank you for the image with the color change. I appreciate the visual. The Soji white in person is really white. I painted the fascia just to see how it would look and it was too white. I painted over it with the Acia Haze. We also live in a Arizona with horse property so my husband doesn‘t want something too light where the dirt will show up. We are liking the Urban Puddy which is the bottom left in my original picture and the big board in the pictures I added. I put up the board I made of Roadside in the morning and post a picture. The painter will pressure wash tomorrow, tape Tuesday, and start painting Thursday. Based on the comments it seems we should go with the Urban Puddy. Or does anyone have a specific color they’ve used and been happy with that is similar to what we‘re all visualizing?

You need to make that decision in your room with your light. What we see on our computer monitors may not look anything like what you see in real life. In fact the floor looks like a different color in your two photos, which should prove to you that it's impossible for anyone to pick the color for you long-distance on a website. What you could do is paint the walls the same white color as the trim. Also, are you painting before you install the new floor? Painting should come last.

The room is 12 x 10 but seems larger because of the windows, skylights and high ceiling. It has an angled wall where the sinks are and the big mirrors make that turn, too. There's a 5' double window over the tub and an oversized shower with hammered glass door and panel over a bench area.

I've spent an hour now trying to find a pic of a rug similar to mine and I can see that it is not popular right now. But it cost us $500 25 years ago, so I guess we should keep it forever ;) right? Actually, it gets sprayed with hairspray day in and out. Why buy something new to subject to this treatment? Anyway, Navyo or royal blue with softer shades on a ivory background with center medallion, some flowers.

How does one pick colors from scratch? I've been to the BM site to see what the Pottery Barn colors are and there's one I sort of like called Homestead Green (kind of grayed blue breen color). I would like to get colors that are "in" so I will be able to find towels that work.....
