Pottery Barn Outlet - Have You Been?
Comments (28)FWIW, fall may be better time to go than now. It was never a problem before the economy took a dive but they changed the stores format a couple of years ago, cutting back on at least half of the inventory. They only seem to stock up in fall and spring. It seems they use summer and winter to get rid of holiday & seasonal items and just let the normal inventory wain while pushing the other stuff. It doesn't get restocked much at all and when it's gone, it's gone. I took the hike to our local store last week to look for dining chairs. It's an hour north of here and pretty much all the store had going on was the summer clearance and a large stock of bigger sized furniture pieces. The bedding area was almost completely empty, the sheets has all sizes in only white, the colors are almost gone. Shelves for quilts and duvets, lamps and drapes are also pretty much cleared out. Bathroom accessories, only 1 shelf as opposed to several rows. They also used to have several rows of chairs & bar stools, now they're just lined up against the back wall. This is the second year this has happened, so maybe it's the new normal with the economy. It was sure a trip wasted for me. :c( Just thought I'd give you all a heads up...you may want to call and see how their inventory is before you decide on a date to go....See MoreWhy can't I have sheets like my mother-in-law?
Comments (82)Hello friends, I'm chiming in just now after a slight absence and cannot resist tossing in my two cents worth on this topic, as I've had quite a similar experience. Some time ago my mother-in-law gave herself a wonderful birthday present, in that she bought all new everything for the boudoir, down to and including new carpeting, and I said, "Way to go, Rosemary, you and Johnnie deserve this treat!" She had a couple of old sheets that she earmarked for the church's charity drive but I wheedled them away for use in my own bedroom. One set, which I believe was Wamsutta, was like the silky ones your mother-in-law has, and the they were designed by Yves St. Lawrence, in awesome pinks and purples. The colors nothwithstanding, those elderly, well-worn and washed, and much beloved sheets were pure perfection to my husband and me. The lovely smoothness of that old bedding transported us into the sleep of the angels. I promise, we NEVER noticed the pink and purple designs, and we slept on them for another 20 years until they could no longer manage to hold together in one piece. Oh! Holy cow, I just came out of my reverie and realized you had asked a question! Mea culpa! My bad! Here's my suggestion for silky sheets, or at least for as close we can come these days: Buy 100% Egyptian Cotton in a reasonably good thread count, like 300, 400, 500. I'm now a retired senior with rather thin, frail skin, which I feel warrants the smoothest, most silky bedding I can afford. And I buy my Egyptian cotton sheet sets from Penney's, when they go on sale twice a year. And they last forever, well, I'm still using them 8 years later! I have 3 sets and just rotate. Give them a whirl; they're quite reasonable on sale, and enjoy! Kaye...See MorePottery Barn Bedding? Your Opinion?
Comments (30)From the picture it looks like the sheets are shrinking and the embroidered part is gathering as a result. I would give their customer service a call and tell them about the problem. I sure hope they offer you some kind of a fix. I have two solid percale cotton duvets, in the same print and have been very happy with them. Although I have to admit both the duvets as well as several decorative pillow coverings have a problem with buttons falling off. There have been times when they've come out of the dryer very wrinkled but to fix it I stick them back in on a lower setting with a wet towel. That does the trick to my satisfaction but they are still some what wrinkled. I've been told that with percale cotton there will always be a little bit of wrinkling. The thing is I love their pretty prints as well as the weight and cool crisp feel of the sheeting they use so I guess that's the trade off. I did buy a set of their Classic Sheets about 4 years ago and while i really liked everything about them including the truly extra large pockets on the fitted sheet, they didn't last as long as I would have expected a sheet set in that price range to last. Within a couple of years, I started seeing tears in the fitted sheet and they were done. Mind you we change our sheets weekly alternating between two sets, I wash them without bleach and in a front loader which is less harsh on fabrics. So in reality they only lasted about a year, maybe a year and a half at best...haven't bought them again for this reason. I think like everyone else PB's quality has dropped considerably and sadly their stuff is no longer worth the prices they charge....See MorePottery Barn Pillows & Crate and Barrel
Comments (15)I have a Lee sofa from the Coveralls collection that I purchased 3 years ago from Crate & Barrel and the cushions are horrible, (I even purchased upgraded cushions to replace the standard ones that came with the sofa after a few months of use). I was attracted to the casual relaxed appearance of the sofa. The problem is it's too relaxed and casual, the seat & back cushions must be fluffed up and rearranged after sitting on it due to sagging & indentations. Unfortunately the sofa is in the Family Room and it is used daily. The fabric I chose is great but the cushions are the absolute worst. I would not recommend a Lee sofa from the Coveralls collection. I believe I have the C2375-03. I have never had an upholstered piece of furniture look so bad after such a short time. When it is replaced in the Spring it will be given away. I have a few of PB Textured Linen Pillow Covers & from my experience they are a fair price for the quality....See Moreles917
