We just used tropic brown as a pairing with some cherry cabinets in our reno.

We have tropic brown too but our cabinets are a bit lighter cherry (more orange/red tones)

I have Cherry cabinets with coffee glaze. I went with Crema Bordeaux and love it. I will be posting a in progress picture later today. Granite has a lot of brown, some burgundy, cream, peach, tiny gray and black.

There are sooooo many colors to choose from. If you go to the above "Awesome stone countertops" link you'll be amazed. Most of them I'd never heard of.
What do you want to do with your granite ? Do you want a contrast or do you want to kind of blend with the cabtinets ?
We do Tan Brown a lot with cherry cabinets, it's black with red or dark pink, Tropic Brown would also be pretty as would Coffee Brown. Crema Bordeaux would be gorgeous, but may have too much movement for you.

Our Giallo Ornamental has a lot of "rootbeer" colored spots along with a few red garnet spots against an off-white base color.

We did Andromeda White in our kitchen, but if you think the Kashmire White is too blah, this may be too plain for you too.

The dark speckles are a mixture of black and garnet inclusions.

I have seen some beautiful granites and kitchens on these gardenweb pages.

I thought of light granite to provide contrast; the kitchen area is small and doesn't get much natural light which is why I don't want to go to the dark side.

I find the medium tones hardest to pick but a medium tone is probably my best choice because I can then keep the wall expanses very light. The room is a combo kitchen/dining room.

Just took a picture of my crema bordeaux granite. This is right next to the sink in normal sunlight. The browns in it go well with the cherry cabinets which are a medium brown. Everything in my kitchen is conservative except this!

If you like Kashmir White, but find it too blah, then consider Bianco Romano. It has more pattern than KW, but is not overy busy. Kashmir White was going to be my second choice (reluctantly) if I couldn't find the Bianco Romano.

I totally love my Bianco Romano granite! Creamy white, with what I would say is a medium texture compared to the Kashmir White with gray/blue veins and bits of garnet(very subtle).

Hi Margareta Mi - I am just about in the same place as you with those medium toned cherry cabs and getting an oak floor and liking the white stone better than the dark (except I love soap stone). Those Crema Bordeaux stones would look stunning with the cabs except if you want a lighter whiter look you will want to look more towards the Andromeda white, bianco romano, white river/wine river. I'm in the same boat trying to find something I like along those same lines except trying to keep in line with an outside influence in color with my fireplace. Is there a place you can go to near you to find something that might pop out at you?

Crema Bordeaux is possible; I'll have to see it. The granite yard my contractor uses didn't have any Bianco Romano; I asked.

I'm thinking that if I have medium toned cabinets and flooring and light light walls a dark countertop might be OK.

swickbb: I just started to look. Both of us just need to keep at it. I plan to go to the granite yard again next week.
