Anyone With Grey Blanco Silgranit Sink?

I am trying to decide between black and grey. Anyone get the grey and wish they had gotten the black? Do pan scratches show on the grey? Suggestions? Pictures?

Hi Trudymom,

Seems the black is the most popular, but I got the grey for that it was a perfect match to my countertop. (I would love to show you a picture, but it isn't installed yet).

I was skeptical about the Blanco Silgranit, especially about a lighter color like grey; until I saw so many rave reviews about them, here. I went through all the threads and there are few people that went with the grey and have posted pictures (that is what helped me decide). I will try to dig those up for you. But you can also do a search on blanco silgranit and you might run into them.

Now about the scratching and coloring issue, if you are worried I would suggest getting a sink grid (that is what I did). Although most reviews seem to indicate that even the white and lighter colors are quite stain and scratch resistant.

For those of you thinking about a Blanco silgranit sink...just wanted to point out they have a new colour called Silk. It's a grey-toned white...perfect for a lot of greyish marbles and whiter granites. Here's the link. I'm excited because I know we'll change to the silk grey one day in the future!!! I always hated the Biscuit sink in our kitchen as it was too yellow and looks clashy, but the white may have been too stark. Silk grey is just right.

Baquinn, I have a different Blanco sink, but it was large too. I have the equal double bowl undermount Performa (33 by 20 and 10 inches deep). Fortunately, my GC caught the specs and so we were able to ammend the plans prior to fabrication of the cabinet and counter. We did pull the sink base cabinet forward. Initially this was supposed to be a straight counter edge, but you can see the curve we put in to accommodate the sink. I am happy we did. I really like my big sinks. The larger sinks are another favorite thing about my renovation. I hand wash a lot of items, so this sink has made the job so much easier. On another note, everybody's renovations have their fair share of setbacks and frustrations. It's never smooth sailing. It's definitely a process and it will be complete one day and you will really enjoy it! If a large sink is a priority for you, don't settle on a smaller one just for time. There will be more than one hiccup and you want to have the kitchen you really want because you are the one who will be living with whatever decisions you come to. Hang in there!

Chris45ny, all you can do is give me your opinion and I appreciate you taking the time to reply. Westiegirl, glad to hear you have not felt the need to get a sink grid after 4 months. I must say that I am a little suspicious of the HD sink. We hear that often, about items not being the same from super stores - usually faucets & such. Breezygirl, odd how we feel like we know you because we have heard & seen so much from you. I am especially glad you replied because I know you have the same metallic grey color as I do and I knew you didn't start out with a sink grid. I suspect I will hate them too, as I didn't care for them the few times that I washed at other people's sinks with grids & have hated things getting trapped under there & things not able to stand in the sink, etc. Mabeldingeldine, glad to hear you have put that sink through a lot & super hot water to boot. Awesome news! Maybe the problem is in extremely cold areas? I am a little envious of the thought of your garden & even more envious of your chilies! Spicy, my favorite. I have a small outdoor deck where I grow flowers. Nowhere for veggies & such, but I still love tinkering in my little garden. A2gemimi, I haven't forgotten you & I have been lurking late at night. I replied to your PMs so I hope you got my replies. My faucet is centered. You can PM me to see how I like it centered, as things will be too crazy for me to check GW daily. After I move back, I will have to furnish most of my place and I have a 3 year old keeping me very busy. Try me after the weekend - maybe next Tues and check if I have any thoughts on it. No problem. I think you will really like it. It is like the best of both worlds. I was nervous about going down to one sink but hated the double sink, could never fit 13x9 baking dish in it or cookies sheets always had to fill it and leave it soak on the counter. I hated that. Now I can fit everything in there! Of course I use my dishwasher for as much as I can but the big sink is a dream for large pots and pans. I asked for a crock pot for christmas one year and my husband bought me one big enough to roast a deer in! You know with them the bigger the better. Anyway I never used it because I use to have to wash it in the utility sink but not anymore. I also love the small basket and use it for rinsing but also to hide my dish soap in to keep off the counter or to keep a sponge handy.

I have the metallic gray and have had no scratches as yet. I wash all of my pots, pans and cookie sheets in it and no problems with marks. DH will leave coffee cups sitting in there that have slopped, the stain is gone with a wipe of the sponge. The only thing I've ever seen is when I don't rinse Barkeeper's Friend off well enough. I just go over it with a sponge and the haze is gone. But that's my not-so-thorough cleaning, not the sink :) I usually just use dish soap and water and it looks great. I also don't see water spots on this color. I think I might with the anthracite since our water is really hard and full of chemicals.

I got the grey because I am getting dark counters and was worried about the colors being close but not close enough with the anthracite. The grey is nice because it is close in tone to stainless. I'm thrilled about how it looks with my stainless faucet.

I have had my metallic gray Silgranit sink for almost 3 years now. No scratches, no dents, it looks as good as it did when it was installed in 2005. The color is perfect with my Costa Esmeralda granite and my brushed stainless faucet. I get a lot of comments on it from other people. Love it!

Love love love my grey silgranit. I wanted it to blend in with rather than pop out from my granite. Here is a pic
