Quick Blanco Sink Update

Well, our replacement Blanco sink arrived yesterday. This morning my builder came over to say he spoke with the cabinet guy and they are both willing to try to uninstall our cracked one and install the new one - to make up for all of the little things that have gone wrong during our construction. It will require some cutting of the cabinet and of course total destruction of the old sink. My husband and I are going to think on it for a little bit...I still wish I could "patch" the crack in the original sink, but so far I've had no luck getting info on that issue.

PS: Just want to say that I think Blanco's customer service is awesome.

Susie- Does this mean that they are going to attempt replacement from underneath?

My Blanco sink is being undermounted as we speak --- could you see the crack from above, or did it only become apparent upon use?

BTW -- I llooooooooovvvve how my sink looks (it's the Diamond Super Single) so I am glad to hear of good customer service.

Hi everyone -- I'm so sorry, I let this thread get away from me after asking for a clarification! I really appreciate all the pictures of your granite sinks. I am still strongly leaning toward warmfridge's anthracite cascade sink. I don't really know why I'm so taken with the sink but it seems to be some weird emotional thing... I can just tell that's the sink I will end up buying though I can't really justify it at all; it just seems like what a sink should be to me. It's a darn good thing those who have it seem to like it, though I doubt I'd like it so much if I'd been reading negative reports. Thanks for the context-pictures.

Have you tried overstock.com? They have some sinks well priced. I bought blanco sinks at homeperfect.com. They had the best price and sinks were in stock. Although their delivery was quick, shipping is a little funky. I received the tracking and notice of shipping a day after sinks were delivered. Sinks are not installed yet but they are beautiful in the box.

Wow, great updates! The bathroom looks so much nicer, I love the mirror tile and curtain. Thanks so much for sharing about the vinyl granite - we have old, marked up, yellow-y "cultured marble" in our bathrooms and I hate it. But the upstairs bathrooms have8-10' long countertops so replacing them would be very expensive. I think you just gave me the perfect solution, although I am not sure how it will work with undermount sinks. Perhaps I will have to replace the sinks (which have also seen better days). Too bad it won't be an option for our kitchen, which has tile. I think we'll end up going with laminate there.

I think we have the 'D' shape, in a 30'' cabinet, for the clean-up sink. Really like it! There were plenty of moments of self-questioning and I was very worried about not having the faucet centered (the sink is centered on a bank of three windows) but we are very pleased with how it turned out. For the faucet we selected, we actually ended up cutting into the cabinet on the right, so the control valve could be installed and we also pulled the sink as far forward as possible. Just cleaned the sink the first time in a month or so since it was installed; used baking soda and it cleaned up fairly well. But... will look for something I can spray on. Guess posting pictures is like entertaining.... one way to get the cleaning done :) From Recently Updated Side note -- I love, love, LOVE the faucet (Kohler Karbon). It's such fun to use and so handy. I'm rather cranky I didn't use the same one for the prep area (what do you mean I have to pull down?!!). The single motion to adjust and keep the spray exactly where you want it is so natural.

Yes brianadarnell - they are going to attempt to replace from underneath (if that's what we decide to do.) I'm still a little torn. Honestly, besides the fact that I'm very concerned that my granite will get wrecked during the process, I'm also petrified that after we install the new sink it too will crack for some reason.

And jgs7691 - I can't even tell you how much I love the look of my Blanco sink. I actually love it so much I'm more than willing to live with a crack that I can see. I just can't have it leaking!!! I couldn't swear 100% that the sink did not have a crack in it before we installed it (maybe on the underside?), but there was definitely NOT anything visible for the first day or 2. I came downstairs one morning and there it was.

I'll let you all know what happens and what we do.

Thanks for the update. What a tough choice. Fingers crossed for you - whatever you decide. It's great that Blanco has been so responsive but a shame that you had to find out this way.
