Natural Maple Cabinets with what color granite?

My husband and I are purchasing a home with all natural maple cabinets by Aristokraft. They are only 8 years old so not worth tearing out. We are looking to redo appliances and add granite tops and I'm having a difficult time choosing a granite color. I would like something to provide contrast to the natural maple cabinets and the light oak flooring, but I'm nervous about going with black as I've heard its hard to keep clean. Any suggestions? Photo ideas with what color granite was used would be great!

Blue!!!

I also considered white/gray tones for budget reasons. Green and red (not together) would also look very nice, as would a darker brown. Check out mustbnuts' Yellow River with very light natural maple cabs.

Thanks Blue! Let me show you my cabs and my granite. Don't have my granite installed yet as they are templating it and should (if all goes well) be installed in a couple of weeks. The white marks/streaks you see on the granite is where they are marking for the backsplash (doing full marble backsplash)

I hope someone sees this and lends some advice! We weren't expecting to have to stay in our house as we listed it but now we are staying. Long story:( So, the countertops MUST GO! I need help with an inexpensive but good looking solution. We are likely taking out the 6" backsplash behind the cooktop and the riser so that the countertop can come out just a tad but not so many cuts. Maybe make it another seating area. I've received quotes on Giallano Ornamental granite @$28-30/sqft which comes out to a LOT! lol! Looking at quartz but omg. I'm overwhelmed to say the least. Black appliances stay; sink needs replacing but thinking staying with stainless but undermount. Thanks for any advice! The cabinets are maple, floors are Acacia EVP by Lumber Liquidators. Painting cabinets could happen but our cabinet guy said he'd cry since they're maple. HELP! and Thanks!

You may want to consider uba tuba which I have seen and I think it would look good on maple. You may be surprised at how it will pop. I had thought the same thing when I was looking for a light colored countertop to go on dark cabinets. Ended up going with black soapstone and love the dark color. Also the uba tuba is one of the lower priced granites. You may want to check it out. It would also look good with a variety of backsplashes. Good luck.

What color granite for natural cherry cabinets

Our GC loaned us an older sample door so we could use it to choose colors. We took it granite shopping and also used it when we painted samples of our paint. It wasn't the same door style as we chose but we just cared about our color. While cherry does darken, natural cherry doesn't get that dark - we like its kind of medium color. If you like contrast, cool colors like greens and blues work well with the cherry. Some of the greens are Verde Sao Francisco, Costa Esmerelda, Verde Butterfly. Stones with a lot of blue tend to be more expensive. Blue Eyes is somewhat more reasonably priced. I love the blue quartzite stones (not "quartz" engineered stone - these are natural slabs made mostly of quartz and will usually sold as "granite" at the slab yard but no geologist would call them that) - Azul Macaubas (which is mostly white and aqua blue) and our Azul do Mar (which also has aqua and some white but is darker overall - it really does look like a blue sea). The cabinets were a few months old when the picture above was taken and are mostly darkened. Here is the sample door in front of our sink cabinet with brand new undarkened cherry to give you an idea of how much it darkens.

Gosh, I hope others with the color eye respond to your email with suggestions. All I can say is I'm not crazy about Masada - and it's not necessarily that it is too dark (because I'm painting my kitchen BM Van Courtland Blue which is not a light color). Perhaps part of my problem is that the color looks like it would blend right in with your floor almost too much. It's really hard to tell with that size sample, though. I was told to paint a much larger swath of each color I am interested in so you can really see it. I would be interested to see a bit more on the wall, as well as a bit near the floor in order to give you a better opinion. And of course, it is just MY opinion. My KD, mother, sister and DH love the Van Courtland Blue (as do I), but my GC, my trainer and one other person think it might be slightly too dark. Different strokes for different folks. My grandmother LOVED the color mustard, but I'm not as keen on it. Therefore I would be interested to hear what others with more color expertise have to say, and of course I would ultimately go with your gut. What makes you happy when you walk in. Good luck. I personally think color is HARD.

natural maple is so neutral that you can really just choose whatever color floats your boat.

if i were you, i'd determine what i want my accent color(s) to be and then choose granite accordingly to either match or contrast.

Not granite, but Cambria quartz Windsor with natural maple cabs. Just for an idea of color for ya...

The kitchen is coming along. New photos are on the attached link.
The black range comes in this week and a black microwave will be here, too.
I need to figure out the backsplash. I'm thinking travertine tiles...just need to find the right color and size.
I'm also trying to figure out what light fixture to put over the sink and another ceiling light.
Any ideas are welcome!
