Back Splash Photos please

after a year or so with living without a back splash, we are finally ready - 1890 farm house: soapstone counters, medium quarter sawn oak cabinets, slightly darker wood floor...we are thinking of tumbled stone subway tile (combos of cream, beige, black,etc) - any one have photos of something like this...i like it...dh is not so sure (thinks the slight greenishness of some parts of the soapstone may clash). thanks

Pretty tile. Are your shelves extending to the edge of the countertop? The question most frequently asked is: do you end the tile at the cabinets (shelves, in your case) or at the countertop? Is that a closed door to the right of the outlet? Is the outlet a light switch? I would think it would look odd to go to the floor unless you also went to the ceiling.

I would only do the subway tile on the back, I would not put a back splash on the side walls ... it will make it look too closed in, you want your eye to only go to the back wall for depth. And because your counter tops are so dark, I would not use the small 4" granite back splash anywhere. I would only put the dark granite on the horizontal surfaces and then tile all the way down to them.

I disagree about the gray tile. A light gray glass subway tile might work nicely. You already have white cabinets everywhere so it won't "dull it down". Get samples to make sure they work with the slab you've chosen: The more elongated version would make it a bit more contemporary; and the traditional 3 x 6 more traditional.
