I need help dressing up my breakfast bar. (photos)
Comments (27)Charliedawg! Alright, some fun stuff! I agree with your first thoughts that it needs a little something. I think corbels would be a good addition. I also really like pendent lights, they won't block your view. Our's don't. I agree that raised panel in that spot is likely a waste. I also agree that the kitchen won't really come to "life" until you add all your personal stuff. Here's a shot of our kitchen which includes corbels and pendents. Just like our properties, our kitchens are similar. Glad things are back on track. You can't stop writing after you move in. We want to hear all about life in the house. Comments (12)Your rad cover is very much like one my DH made for a house we had many years ago. I put plants on mine as well altho did 'cook' an azalea. Best to use good waterproof cache pots or plant pot saucers under them to prevent staining. You might consider using burlap as a runner as it's not necessary to sew it. Just trim evenly to the size you want and pull a few threads to make a fringe. You could use a product called "Fray Check" to prevent the fringe from further fraying. I've made two such runners from some leftover burlap I had bought for other crafts. Didn't use Fray Check so have to be very careful with them. Burlap is masculine and a bit rustic and I like it for my rustic/refined decor....See MoreHouseplants dressed up for X-mas?
Comments (4)I've never used one as a chirstmas tree but I think we used to put small ornaments on out pachira a long time ago back when I had It. My family joked that my ensete was going to be the Christmas tree this year as its so big. They wanted to put ornaments on it but it's kinda hard when it doesn't have any branches...Plus didn't want them putting weight on the leaves....See MoreFollow up to dress shopping
Comments (22)Thank you all for the compliments on the dress! I am really surprised by how many of you like the pattern. I was certain the silly string orange would turn most people off! I could probably get away with the colors -- though I think the bright coral leans more spring/summer. The bigger issue for me is that it will be late October and an outdoor wedding. Here in the mid-atlantic, the air will be cool even if it is a warm sunny day. The ceremony is outdoors and the reception will be in a heated tent on the mansion grounds so yeah, the reception should be comfortable but i'd really rather have sleeves or an actual layer. A wrap is too much when walking around/dancing, etc if I need to keep it wrapped around my arms. Regardless, I will be keeping the dress! I got it for a great price and I am sure it will be the perfect thing for one of the pending weddings (there's one in April.. and one yet to set a date)....See More- 14 years ago
