Refilling the bottles is actually quite easy. But can be made very complicated if desired! LOL The top actually unscrews. The trick is that they have little raised things on there so it appears it doesn't. What I did was to take a small sidecutters and cut up the side of the cap a bit between the notches and bend them out a bit, unscrew the cap and then cut off the bottom ring. You could use a sharp utility knife if you're careful. Some just take a "channellock" type pliers or a strap wrench, get a grip and unscrew it. I was hesitant to do that in case I damaged the cap or bottle. So I took the time to clip it. Some just cut a hole in the bottom of the bottle, fill it with a funnel and plug it with a cork. There's also places that sell little cap things to modify a bottle but once you unscrew the top and remove the little notches, you're fine. Do I need to give a disclaimer? Be careful that you don't cut yourself! That's why a small sidecutter is preferred, but a razor blade will work. The trick is to cut between the teeth (there's about 12 of them as I recall) and carefully pry the plastic away from the bottle. A small screwdriver or scratch awl works well. I did have it happen once that when I had refilled several times, the top started to leak. Also, the bottles are pretty flimsy and I had one that the clips that hold it in place had poked holes in it. If I haven't made it clear I could take some pictures and post. Let me know how it goes.

This is a really old thread...however, I am recuperating from some medical stuff, and now I am on page 42 of this thread. I am getting re-educated on cleaning....enough of listening to the impeachment stuff. We purchased the SHMOP in 1995, when we bought our old house. Hubby loves it!! And, if you need replacements, the company ( Clean Team) sends them right out, and they last forever. Hubby has a sewing machine that is an antique...he loves pulling that thing out, and sews his own replacement bonnets with elastic and micro fabric covers. He loves sewing with the antique machine...if I’m not careful, I find him sewing all sorts of things. Get the SHMOP...IT WILL NOT BREAK!

We have dark Allure Ultra in bathroom - floor looks great and I want to keep it that way. So far have just used water on it to mop up spots - has anyone used Swiffer WetJet on it? I can't tell from HD or Swiffer website if it's safe to do.

I don't know what type mop you have. The swiffer bottle is shaped to fit in the mop and has to be in the slot to let the cleaner come out. If your mop has a bottle that you could fill with the swiffer cleaner it might work. I have taken the the top off the swiffer bottle to refill but haven't had any luck with it not leaking. My Shark just takes plain water. I buy the distilled water at the grocery for 79 cents to use in mine. Also the pads that come with the Shark ( you get five of them and they are really nice) fit on the swiffer mop. Not having to buy the refill pads for the swiffer soon pays for the Shark Steam Mop. We have 8 small grandkids and they spill alot so I need a mop...
