Dal-Tile Keystone hex-Arctic White or Biscuit?
Comments (3)Believe it or not, I don't know the brand, as I'm getting my tile from a local supplier. However it is white like Dal-Tile's Arctic White. You mentioned the hex pix on this forum - I have seen mostly pure white hex. Biscuit is a fairly yellow color, and it would be easiest to see the difference if you can find a tile showroom somewhere and talk to the sales people. I attached a link for you to an article on white bathrooms, and choosing between different kinds of white. The first picture in the article (white pedestal sink, brushed nickel fixtures, white subway tile, hex floor) is actually the inspiration for one of my bathroom remodels. And this is definitely white, not biscuit. You can see that by looking at (and enlarging) the second photo down, the one with the claw-foot tub. That floor is closer to a biscuit color, and you can see how much yellower it is in contrast with the white walls. You asked about grout - I have seen strong opinions on this forum on white versus gray grout. However I am going with gray (the color is "silverado") based on advice from my tile guy. I don't want to be obsessing over keeping my white grout lines clean, and I like the idea of the gray grout breaking up the starkness of the pure white. I have a biased opinion on white vs biscuit - I am actually tearing out all the biscuit-colored tile in my 2 bathrooms and replacing it with pure white, which I think is a classier neutral. But the cool thing about design is that you get to express your own tastes and personality! I would highly recommend that you go to a few tile showrooms and get a feeling for what look you like (or at least cruise the internet for photos for a while). Once you have a sense of what you like, the color choice will be easier. Not easy, but easier. :) Good luck! ~Lynne Here is a link that might be useful: Article on white bathrooms...See MoreDaltile Rittenhouse subway tile install question...Bill? HELP!
Comments (4)We're using DalTile Rittenhouse Arctic White in our basement bathroom. It's pretty cheap through Home Depot. Here is a shot taken a few minutes ago. Still need to run the vertical bullnose and grout, but you get the idea. Comments (28)We have considered these lines after ruling out Subway Ceramics due to cost - will make a decision soon! The thicknesses really range here - as well as the "whites". 1) Walker Zanger's Soho collection - also comes in a bevel. http://www.walkerzanger.com/catalog/series.php?mat=Ceramic&coll=Soho Made in Spain. 2) Richards & Sterling - $6.40/SF but their quarter rounds were really pricey ($6.10 per piece)- www.richardsandsterling.com 3) Tile Shop's Imperial Bianco Gloss (mentioned in earlier posts) - $5.99/SF (free shipping over $100) www.tileshop.com/product/productdetail.aspx?familyID=2041&recordID=5039511 - Made in China. 4) Westminster - if you are in the SF Bay Area, Import Tile Co in Berkeley has some back stock - no bull nose. $5.95/SF. The company is out of business but they still have stock. www.importtile.com Made in California. 5) Sonoma Tilemakers - Star collection - $12/SF www.sonomatilemakers.com/LineList.aspx?prod-line-id=8&line-list-id=32&IsLineList=True Made in Sonoma, CA. 6) Pratt and Larson - Simple Solutions collection - $10.50/SF www.prattandlarson.com Made in Portland, OR....See MoreBacksplash help: mixed neutrals subway tile?
Comments (139)I would expect that Calacatta as a field tile would be too expensive for this kitchen. Thanks for getting those mosaics off their website, rebunky. I like the stick mosaic but I'd probably use something more like the 1 x 3 brick. I love squares but I know that's a dated look. The wave tile is dimensional. There's also a hexagon and a mini herringbone mosaic. I'm never quite sure what you can get in which finish from Encore. Confusing website. I'll think about adding color in green and/or red if I do a mosaic. If I was able to get Encore, which would probably involve going to Seattle for an overnighter, I may be able to get a field tile in the Bravo line. Thanks, guys. Next step is getting out to some tile stores....See Morerhome410
