If you look at Daltile keystones online, it's the 2" squares in "suede gray" which is a pebbly stone colored medium cool gray. They installed it diagonally, bordered with white subways laid side by side.

Wow,, am I glad I checked this thread. First-- Metro is annother tile company. I'm pretty sure instead of having lugs on the sides of the tiles like Dal's, it has a raised ridge that runs the whole perimeter of the tile, but does the exact same thing. As for HD, they have the very same Daltile, but they also have U.S. Ceramics, as well. Also not a bad tile. Secondly, as for matte vs brite glaze, there's no difference in maintanence. The only difference, pretty much is your taste. Third, the only problem I forsee with respect to hanging the Durock is that any time I've hung cement board where plaster was, the studs never seem to be in good alignment. But that's not a big deal. They can either be hand planed or shimmed, as needed. Other than that, it's a piece of cake. Lastly, DO NNOT take those HD classes. I sat in on one and tore the instructor to bits, to the point that he was ready to have me removed from the store. Those classes are a joke. Thanks guys! Shaughnn, I originally ordered the 3x6 cove base that is part of the Rittenhouse line (not the sanitary cove base). However, BF and I saw a 4x4 cove from another company and we thought looked great with the 3x6 - it brought a little more attention to the fact that it was a trim piece. I'd be fine with either. If the Semi-Gloss line will match the Rittenhouse square line exactly, that would be perfect! We ordered a bunch of bullnose pieces and corners along with the cove base and apparently it's only the cove that is being affected by the "backorder," so I'm not sure what's going on. As I said, we ordered from Expo, which is a reputable company, but the salesperson I've been working with is less than helpful. I'm going to try calling around to a few stores to see what I can find out. Budge, I would love to see what your floor looks like with no trim. It would save me a couple hundred dollars to do it that way!

From what I've learned from Bill Vincent, sanded grout is used for larger grout lines and unsanded for smaller ones or very delicate tile. You might also consider epoxy grout for your kitchen, since it's indestructible, mold-resistant, and doesn't need sealing, although it costs a bit more and your tiler might upcharge a little for the installation. I'm about to tile mine myself and plan on using the same epoxy grout (Laticrete's Spectralock) that I used in the bathroom, which I'm loving for its smoothness and consistent color. Most folks seem to go with 1/16th for a 3x6 subway tile, although some use 1/8th (bluekitobsessed, yours actually look like 1/16th to me?). If you take a stroll through the John Bridge tile forum, you'll see all kinds of examples of the different spacings in grouted tile. Here's one at 1/8th. From what I have read by the experts, it's OK to use your existing kitchen drywall for a backsplash. As long as it's in decent condition, you don't have to replace it with hardibacker, which is meant for places like showers that get lots of serious water exposure.
