Pictures of kitchens w / 3x6 glass subway tiles? Please share!
Comments (13)annanna - can't wait to see the AKDO tiles in your kitchen!!! momto3girls - thanks for posting the link. It was not that thread that I was thinking about, but it looks like the poster in this thread had a similar issue. I wish he/she posted close-up photos!! The tiles looked really nice! klutterkara - I love your tiles. I remember reading your post when you first shared the pictures. Thanks so much for posting again. How did you finish the exposed ends? Do you have any pictures to share? lynda_baker - thanks for the link. I looked through the thread and saw one picture that looked like it had Bianco Romano on it. Nice backsplash! It looked like gray ceramic tile, though. Do you think it is glass? (I hope we are talking about the same picture)...See More3x6 subway with a glass tile accent ...pics please.
Comments (7)I don't remember exactly what color the grout is but it's a light gray -- maybe Oyster Gray? I can go dig around and find it if you'd like to know for sure. I think we chose it because it's a pretty close match to the edges of the glass tile. Here's a close-up of the backsplash if that helps: From Finished Kitchen Both tiles are from Sonoma Tilemakers. The 3x6 is a light green, Trellis Green, and the 1x2 is their Tantrum tile in color Tazo....See MoreSubway tile - 2x4 or 3x6???
Comments (10)I was inspired by a kitchen in Southern Living, May of 2006, I believe. Because the room was already narrow, I didn't want upper cabinets on both sides or a vent hood. I insisted on a downdraft range, against the advice of my contractor. Now the room seems huge. I have french pocket doors to the left of that counter so I can close off the dining room and the rest of the house if cooking odors get heavy. So far have been very happy with the results. Here is another shot of the area to the left of the range. And area opposite the range: The tile came from Home Depot Expo, Hampton bisque (crackle finish) and the grout was 1 shade up from the lightest, sort of taupe. Sorry, don't remember the name. Used the plug mould idea under the cabinets, so eliminated all the outlets...thanks to the smart people here it turned out great! It was all new construction and no one can believe it wasn't built in 1939 with the rest of the house....See MoreInstallation of Handmade 3x6 subway tile (Fireclay debris series)
Comments (6)maxee123, We just finished a fireplace surround using 2x6 and 2x2 tiles from the Debris series. This tile is uniquely beautiful, but has some qualities which make it tricky to work with. Our grout lines ended up being extra-wide to accommodate the uneven edges of the tile. The installation instructions say 3/16 (sanded grout) but ours are more like 1/4". Where planes meet, (the wall/counter line) use caulk, not grout. You can get caulk colored to match your grout from several companies. There is a lot of settling and movement in this line-it needs to be somewhat flexible. This tile is very thick and the side edges are not completely covered with glaze. They are very rough. So, you really don't want any edges to be exposed--edges should butt up to cabinetry or trim--something to "hide" them. The engobe glaze is very sloppy-looking, as there is a white underglaze peeking out on the sides in addition to whatever color the tiles are. I love the handmade quality of these tiles They're a challenge but the end result was well worth the trouble. I was lucky to have a tile setter who appreciated them and enjoyed the fussing. Good luck!...See Moreacountryfarm
