HELP Ok so just got back from another visit. I really am getting kind of depressed/frustrated with this. I did bring home some glass tiles to see if they work with the plainer marca corona tiles but I am so upset that I havent even taken them out of the car. Last nite I was ready to do one,, then this morning, another. Anyway I looked at the link for mosaic-tile.com and thought that perhaps.... one of the three could work? any but the bamboo one, possibly the verde or portico.( Iwonder can anyone photoshop that with the marca corona origins ivory in a 4 by 4? ). I do like the one kad2 did, but I dont think I want to use that shape tile. Could something like that work with a square tile for the field tile? Here is a link that might be useful: verde/portico

Hi- I need to decide on BS to go with my Kashmir white granite and cream cabinets. I am thinking of calacatta gold subway Tile but I think it might be too busy. I also love vetro by casa dolce casa but haven't seen it in person. ( no nearby dealers but I just ordered a sample) So, I would appreciate some suggestions/pictures! Thanks!

Thanks everyone. I'm all smiley and giddy hearing your kind comments. It melts me heart. I'm glad to hear people like the backsplash tile. It is pretty bold. I was also THRILLED with how the stain on the island turned out. Interestingly, lots of people say the kitchen has a peaceful look and feel to it and that wasn't necessarily something I was aiming for but my kitchen mission statement did include "casual but sophisticated/elegant" which might boil down to "peaceful or tranquil". We feel very blessed to have been able to do such a large scale kitchen remodel and are thrilled with how everything turned out. It also means we won't be moving for the next 15+ years! I can't wait until the bar stools are in and I can start serving snacks to my kids there. We are borrowing one bar stool right now and it gets a lot of use. clarygrace and others - I'm glad to hear you think the colors are coordinate b/c I was in a quandary about that at one point. I can't wait to see your kitchen and island. We love the shape of ours but did it b/c it worked within our constraints. We didn't want to mess with the existing deck outside the bay windows and we couldn't push right much more either b/c of the powder room. And speaking of the powder room - here are pictures of that which was also part of this remodel: tea4all - the pantry is pretty small as far as walk-in pantries go. Finished dimensions are 5.5' long by 46'' wide. We weren't originally going to do a pantry but it made sense with the rest of the layout (it brought the oven closer to the rest of the kitchen) and I am really glad we did! It was actually framed larger and had to be redone b/c large aisles were more important to me than a few more inches in the pantry. The other detail I forgot to include - the grout color on the backsplash is Custom Grout Light Smoke and on the floor it is Lacrete Parchment (just in case someone really wants to know - ha!)

All, thanks a lot for your honest feedback (please keep them coming!) Raehelen - This has been also a dilemma for me: the overhang question with the 24" tiles. I have researched this quite a bit. Maybe should post this on a separate thread but for now here is a run down: There are few options: 1) Going for ultra modern look and stop at the cabinet depth (this should be OK only if the total depth of the cabinets stops at 24" - Otherwise would look weird with doors and drawer faces protruding beyond the counter edge). 2) Finishing the edge with a trim piece: Either similar to the material of your cabinetry to give it some consistency or use a metal edging (there is a cool company names schluter-systems (www.schluter.com) that offers such solutions especially designed for tiled counters) 3) Running a small strip of the tile in the back  Can be the tile itself, OR a completely different tile, likely the same as the backsplash. Thinking in the line of 1" mosaics that continues onto the backsplash. Can do lots of things here just requires a bit of creativity. Bellacat_2008 - The tile is called Steelwork, color Argento (it comes also in a bronze/copperish and a darker/black tone). The manufacturing company was difficult to figure out  as most suppliers wonÂt tell you their sources. But it is called "Fioranese" I think.
