white caesarstone counters + calacutta slab BS?

Has anyone seen or done this? Just wondering if it's possible to match up the whites with a quartz and how the two different materials would look with each other. Certainly less $$ than all marble plus the benefit of bullet proof counters(compared to marble anyway!)but still getting a statement piece of calacutta for the backsplash.

My cabinets are white so it would be a lot of white but I could put a reveal under the counters to add a visual break. The large island (10 x 5) is also white but the counter would most likely be soapstone.

Behind the island on the inside wall is a 10' drawer base with slab fronts and it will be painted a high gloss grey. So the kitchen will have a modern/transitional feel. There will be no upper cabinets on the main counter run - it will be a 20' run with the cooktop in the middle and 8' foot windows coming to within 6" of the counter on either side of the cooktop space.

This is what the kitchen looked like a few weeks ago. There is another window at the near end of the counter by the sink then a patio slider to the deck. The space has been painted now - BM Wind's Breath and Revere Pewter in the adjoining dining room.

Back serving area - right now the uppers are not in the plans so just a straight run of cabinet.

I have white Caesarstone perimeters and honed Danby marble on my island. I'm obviously biased, but I think it looks great! I'm also very happy with the functionality of both the quartz and the marble surfaces. My BS is polished calacatta mosaic tiles. Both marbles in my kitchen have the same warmish white undertone as the Caesastone "Blizzard" color that I chose. The other CS whites ("pure white" and "organic white") I thought clashed a little with my specific marble slab, if I recall.

There is some etching on the marble counter, as expected, but there is enough veining that it's difficult to find and I don't mind it at all.

sharonite - I think it looks beautiful together too! You have the warmth of the wood cabinets but mine will be white which is where I wonder if it is too much. But my floors are dark.. I will have wide greyish roller blinds in the windows which will break up the white a bit too. Wish I could photoshop it in and see it first!!

I love the pop of your red chairs! I am partial to red and have red leather chairs in the living room which is open to the kitchen. Could you tell me what hardware you used? They look like the style I am after too.

This counter decision indecision is aging me lol!

Alexx - I really love your kitchen! It came out beautifully!! I have a question about your counters. I am doing a similar look with the white shaker cabs (framed w/full overlay) and quartz (Caesarstone Raven) countertops. I will also be doing a mitered edge with a 1.5" overhang. My question is ... how far do your counters project past your cabinet boxes, as well as past the doors/drawer fronts. There is some dispute between my cabinet maker and the countertop folks. Cabinet maker says I should have a 1" projection past the doors/drawer fronts, while the countertop folks are suggesting a "flush" appearance (not truly flush, but more like a 1/4" projection). Can you tell me what yours are? And if anyone reading this has suggestions or advice, I would appreciate it! Thank you!

I have to say that when I saw distance photos of crackle tile, I really liked the look, but when I had crackle tile samples in my kitchen, they seemed way too busy for me. Now, I do have pretty minimalist tastes, so maybe it says something about me... I realized, though, that what I really liked about the crackle tiles in the photos was the subtle color variation from tile to tile. I've found a few tiles that seem like they offer this without the crackle. In a situation like yours with two cabinet colors and two granites (one of which has a lot of movement), I might look for a more hand glazed tile look without the crackle. It's softer, more subtle, calming, less busy. Ann Sacks Capprichio line is one that I looked at. I think, though, that I'm probably going to end up with one of the Allen Roth ceramic tiles from Lowes. They have a really pretty translucent glaze. The colors are a little limited, but I actually think they'd work well with your palette - you might look into them. They're a good budget option, too, if that's a consideration... The colors I'm considering are Fawn and Pearl (cream and gray), but they have chocolate and taupe also.

Oh my! Shopping was quite overwhelming. I found many slabs in the white / off white category (both granite and quartzite) that I could see in our kitchen. But then I saw the soapstone! Wow - it was gorgeous and I think it would go beautifully in our kitchen; however, DH prefers a granite. Stumbled onto a gorgeous honed via lactea granite that has a soapstone look. What do you think? Could I pair it with a carrara marble herringbone backsplash?

Travertine can range in price a lot. I loved how neutral and natural it was. Mine is ivory - they have light to dark colors available. I have seen some very budget friendly sales at the big box stores. Any natural stone will need to be sealed. I do that on my floors and counters 2x a year. Please know that sealing takes exactly the same amount of time and effort that cleaning your counter or floors takes. You wipe it on, let it sit a minute, then thoroughly wipe it off. That's it. I have had absolutely NO staining with my marble. We eat at the island every day for most meals. I have 5 teenagers and they frequently have many friends over. There is some etching, but honestly, you have to turn your head to the side and lay it flat on the surface to find them. On the perimeter we put Cambrian Black Antique Granite. LOVE IT!!

I think your idea of combining the function of Ceasarstone countertops with the stunning beauty of calcutta slab backsplash is fantastic. In terms of whether the materials can go together or will clash... I think you can only really know if you put samples together. I think having the white cabinets may even help since if you clearly have 3 slightly different whites together, hopefully it will appear intentional rather than accidental. I suggest you take some samples of the various Ceasarstone white options (maybe look at some Silestone and other brands too just to be safe) to multiple slab yards and start looking for marble that works.

By the way, love your kitchen sharonite!

Muskokascp, our pulls are the Princetonian pulls from Top Knobs. And thanks, I love the red chairs too!

I also think that if you use a dramatically veined, "statement" marble BS, it will pull together your dark floors and white cabinets, especially if the veining in the marble has some rust tones in it to pick up the brown of the floors. Keep us posted! Maybe boxerpups will come to the rescue with more pictures to give you some inspiration (and comfort!)

I agree with pricklypear that you will want to pick your marble first and then find a quartz white that will work with it. The whites are all slightly different. (and thanks pricklypear, we are really enjoying the kitchen)

I am warming to the idea more and more. Around here there only seems to be 3cm marble but if I can somehow find some 2cm it will be even more cost effective. And I agree, it needs to be a dramatic statement piece with nice dark veins. Calacatta or statuario probably.

Looking at the window wall where it would go, what do you think of putting it on the whole wall- this would mean above the windows to the ceiling? The wall ovens at the end of the far window would be the stopping point for the marble.
