How to move a 150 degree swivel Hansgrohe Talis S faucet handle t

Not for the faint of heart but if you dare, you can make your 150degree hansgrohe faucet work for a front facing handle. That is, the handle facing over the sink, instead of to the side. See my old post in the plumbing section from March that I linked below and updated tonight.

I am always curious about having the handle facing the sink. It seems a lot of people do it, but doesn't your arm get wet turning it on? I do like the look of it though.

I'm planning on it, for the look and to keep puddles off my counter. Though with tapmaster I'm not sure it will matter.

We chose this faucet for our kitchen remodel last spring (2013). It broke within 3 months - Hansgrohe sent me a replacement part but would not cover the cost of the plumber ($125) to fix it. It broke again last week, and the plumber came back to fix it free of charge, since it was within a 6 month time frame. He showed me a part that should be "tightened" every few weeks to stop the leaking and then the break from happening, but quite frankly I don't think that this should be necessary to do for a costly, supposedly high quality item. I called Hansgrohe back (run by Delta here in Canada) to give them a piece of my mind. A very expensive faucet should not break twice within 6 months, and it is less than a year old. I had a Moen for 12 years before the renovation and not a drop (pun intentional) of trouble from it. They want me to send in my plumber's invoice and a detailed account of what has been happening to see what they can do. At this point, yes it would be nice if they refunded my $125, but I just don't want this to happen again. I would not recommend this faucet. When it works it's fine, but every couple of months it stars to leak, and now twice the handle has broken off. This post was edited by Caya26 on Sun, Mar 9, 14 at 23:03

Yes, Breezy. You are one of the lucky ones that purchased this while they were still manufacturing it! Here is the reply from Hansgrohe.... All of our current catalogue faucets are only designed for the handle to be on the right. We do have a few models that you could look around for online that could be positioned that way. They would have to switch the hot and cold supply line so the reading on the handle will be the opposite but it would work. Those model numbers are: 06801000/06801820 or the 06697000/06697860 I am a little hesitant to purchase one of these models if I find them online-might make replacement parts hard to find if needed. But so far, the few I have found online are actually the "newer" model, even if they are listed with the "old" model number, and they only swivel 150 degrees.

Just to add a variable, I have another brand of pull down. Works fine. It has an arch and it is pointing straight down into my rear set drain, like you plan for yours. I do not like that the water drops down in this back portion of the sink, because it is so close to the backsplash and has a tendency to splash onto the back counter when I am washing things. I need more water play area. I had the handle turned to the front of the sink and that has helped a lot to prevent dripping wet hands draining water onto the counter when turning on/off the water. But I can still get a fair amount of water into the back of the faucet. It drives me crazy. It is too much maintenance for me. I obsess that water is seeping into the grout of the backsplash or where ever water can seep into. I may end up buying another faucet that is more like the "S" model you've posted, because it seems to have the spray range more forward than mine. What ever you do consider having the handle facing forward so that drippy hands drip into the sink when using the handle. I had my hot and cold connected to the faucet reversed, so that it functioned like an old fashioned top single handle faucet; swing left for hot and right for cold. Can you try some faucets out in real life using water?

I have a faucet that is by C-Tech-I that looks a lot like the Hansgrohe. I got the C-tech-I to avoid the higher cost of the Hansgrohe, and it is solid stainless steel. I have a sink from the same company and have been satisfied with it too. If I had to do it again I would get the Hansgrohe because the angle of my faucet is so straight down. I get a little bit of a splatter to the back counter. I have since rotated my handle to be oriented over the sink like Breezy and Cheri127 have. It helps keep the wet hand drips from getting all over the back of the counter. This picture is before my handle was repositioned: While I think mine is too tight of an angle, I love it otherwise. I really like the pull down feature over the pull out type. I think it is ergonomically easier.

I'm almost there. When front mounting a normally right mounted handle, do the supply lines need to be switched?

I have had my other faucet set this way but I didn't have to make modifications to the swivel. It was a knockoff of the higher end faucets and the spray broke after 2 years :( So I bought the Hansgrohe set on Ebay for just under $200. It looks so much nicer than the other faucet I had. The scale is a bit smaller and a better match with the scale of my kitchen. I also like that it angles the spray to the center of the sink instead of near the back where the other one did, causing more backsplash spraying.

Ali80ca, I know a lot of people have brought up the "wet hand" theory. Well if I had a hand that came out of the middle of my chest it might unavoidably get wet :) But human hands come at the faucet from the side and encircle the water spray and is very easy to avoid the stream of water. It is really a non issue. It is just an assumption people make. Try it out on your current faucet and pretend the handle is in front. It is very easy to navigate. BTW my plumber was in Minnesota visiting his DB and SIL. They had a constant puddle of water on the back of their high end kitchen sink counter. He suggested the turn around (after doing mine like this 2 years ago). They were reluctant but went for it. It worked to keep the water off the counter from drippy hands.

Wiliamsem, yes I switched the H/C lines to match conventional use of hot cold. Though the colors are on the handle in a subtle display that one will have to ignore. There is a slight trade off of design, when doing the turn around, but the function is so much better.

I see the "new to kitchen..." thread is changed. I haven't seen the one that Buehl maintained for a while. If there was an announcement, I missed it. There were some excellent bump posts on those threads. Like that song with the teacher singing with her kids that you posted. I loved the joy in that video.

Well my faucet is working very well! No issues after trimming the brass restricter lip that prevented the full swivel. Yippy.
