I am in the same boat. I actually ordered the Hansgrohe Allegro E Gourmet and find it is too large for my huge Orca sink. Who would have thought??? So, now so I need to find a smaller faucet fairly soon. My plumber thinks Hansgrohe are not worth it, he swears he does more repairs on them than any others.

The reviews I read on one site were wonderful and on another they were terrible. What are we to believe? Thank goodness for GW, I trust you folks to give us honest direction.

I've tried the allegro e and metro from costco. The talis C looks like the same faucet as the allegro with a different handle. For me the metro is a much better faucet. It isn't as bulky and also seems to have better volume control.

scpalmetto, can you compare your faucet to the exact measurements for the talis C listed here on costco's website?

I have the Hansgrohe Talis C prep faucet for my prep sink and Grohe Ladylux Plus for my clean up sink (Orca). I love the Hansgrohe and wish I had installed a Talis C for the clean up sink. The Grohe causes too much splashing.

I've had the Talis C at my one and only deep single-bowl sink. I'm happy with it, smooth operation, well built. The pull-down sprayer stays on without having to press anything, but I wish there was a way to turn off the spray without having to turn the water off and then on again. That's not a huge deal. I don't know if it's possible to install the handle in the front (middle) but I would prefer it there. I'm right handed so I'm often carrying something in my right hand and I have to reach over with my left to turn on/off.

The faucet doesn't splash, but how I enter the stream can cause splashing. It's been a learning experience.

If I were choosing a faucet again I wouldn't pick this model. I don't care for how the business end flares sorta like an elephant's trunk. The arc has a larger girth to begin with and the flared end makes it stick out more.

I don't dislike this faucet, but next time I'd choose one more streamlined looking.

I find it interesting that all the reviews for my faucet at Costco are pretty negative and the majority of the reviews on Amazon (where I bought mine) are positive. I think I am going to return it while I can.

The specs on the Talis show the spout reach significantly shorter than the Allegro which is 11 3/8", That brings it too close to the front of the sink. I can't imagine what kind of sink you would use this thing on.

I do like that the Hangrohes have good water pressure. That seems to be a real issue with Moens and Deltas.

Spout reach? What measurement is that? From the riser in the back to the place where the water comes out? I don't understand how a shorter reach would bring it closer to the front of the sink.

The kind of sink I use this thing on is a 30" wide, 10" deep single-bowl stainless sink. It strikes me as a fairly common setup.

I think scpalmetto meant that the allegro spout reach is too long bringing it too far forward.

I have been thinking about the Talis C as well from Costco. I noticed that in the pdf for the installation instructions online, the Costco version is a completely different model # than the one I've seen elsewhere. Now, that could be like how you can't compare mattresses at different places because the manufacturers make different model #s for different retailers. But I emailed Hansgrohe and asked the question, I'm waiting for a reply.

I thought maybe that was the reason why the reviews on Costco were not as good as the others elsewhere - maybe it indeed is a cheaper made version? The one I felt at Ferguson felt really solid, but I swear the last time I was at Costco I wasn't impressed. I'm going to Costco tomorrow so I'll probably just buy it anyway to have one hand if I can't decide on any others. I love the price, it's on sale this month.

Since the comments made here do not really favor the Talis C can we find clear alternative that came out of the comments? I really appreciate your experiences and why you liked or didn't like the faucet. My inclination is to find a different model or maybe brand. I would like to stay with Hansgrohe as they do have quality products.

I started with a Hansgrohe Talis S. I didn't like the spray function ... it had to be held in to function. But what I really didn't like was the slow drip after the faucet was turned off. I had to shake out the pull-down before putting it back in the dock to remove most of the water, but that didn't completely solve the problem. There was always a little bubble of water waiting to fall, and whenever the faucet was bumped or otherwise moved, water would drip out then, too. It annoyed me, so I replaced it with a Delta Trinsic ... much better toggle function, and no drips, ever. And I like the look of it better, too. And it was also less expensive.

We chose this faucet for our kitchen remodel last spring (2013). It broke within 3 months - Hansgrohe sent me a replacement part but would not cover the cost of the plumber ($125) to fix it.
It broke again last week, and the plumber came back to fix it free of charge, since it was within a 6 month time frame. He showed me a part that should be "tightened" every few weeks to stop the leaking and then the break from happening, but quite frankly I don't think that this should be necessary to do for a costly, supposedly high quality item.
I called Hansgrohe back (run by Delta here in Canada) to give them a piece of my mind. A very expensive faucet should not break twice within 6 months, and it is less than a year old. I had a Moen for 12 years before the renovation and not a drop (pun intentional) of trouble from it. They want me to send in my plumber's invoice and a detailed account of what has been happening to see what they can do. At this point, yes it would be nice if they refunded my $125, but I just don't want this to happen again.
I would not recommend this faucet. When it works it's fine, but every couple of months it stars to leak, and now twice the handle has broken off.

jellytoast, the spray on my Talis C does NOT need to be held in to function. I press it once and the spray stays on all by itself until I turn the faucet off.

Caya, yes, the part that periodically needs to be tightened. I do not get leaks, but every couple of weeks I notice a slight gap where the faucet head sits in the arch. I don't get any drips, just a visible gap. There's a sleeve that is easily tightened by hand. I can't figure out why it would loosen as I don't do any circular action with it. While it's slightly confounding it has such a low annoyance factor that it wouldn't deter me otherwise from buying it.

My only problem with the faucet is that I'd prefer a sleeker style. This one is two years old and I'm not getting rid of it any time soon.

Thanks for clarifying that for the OP, linelle. I did not think that Hansgrohe's site was clear enough on their website about how the spray function works, on my faucet anyway. I was surprised when I got it because I just assumed it would toggle on and off.

OK, for those of you who wouldn't buy Hansgrohe again, what would you buy?

For anyone who might be thinking about the Talis C, I did get a response from Hansgrohe on the different model #s:

"They are the same faucet with the exception that the flow rate on the faucet at Costco is 1.75 GPM as to where the model 04215800 is 2.2 GPM. We also sell another model that has the flow of 1.5 GPM. The model sold at Costco has the 1.75 GPM flow rate to adhere to most water restrictions throughout the country."

My Talis C has a normal water flow, i.e., it doesn't seem restricted to me.

I'm not saying I wouldn't buy Hansgrohe again. I would. My faucet is well made and has a very smooth operation. The only thing I would do different(ly) is select a model that did not have such a hefty look.

I'm good with Hansgrohe.
