Is this the one you're considering?

I just put two in my new kitchen, both are the regular, non-prep version. I considered the prep version for my island prep sink, but in the end decided i like the benefits of the regular version. Another benefit of the standard, IIRC, is that it swivels to a greater degree.

I've never had a pulldown faucet, but I LOVE these! Good quality, actual metal instead of plastic-looking chrome, pretty, sturdy, and simple.

While Costco's Metro is similar, I didn't like the loop handle (much prefer the cleaner, simpler line of the Talis handle). And they only carry it in the brushed version, another one of my dislikes. Hey, I'm picky. :)

I like the look of the Talis.... just looked on Amazon and found they are offering it for 249.00. Breezy, would you consider this a good price?

Purchased 2 of the Talis S (regular) :pul-down faucets in steel optik

and since we now have sinks and counters in we think that it is too big for our peninsula / prep-sink, so have returned it. Thinking of getting the "prep" version, but it is only 1" shorter (~15" high) and has a shorter hose. Other than that identical from what I can tell from reading the specs.

I'm thinking instead of either the HG Allegro E pullout (about 12" high)

or the HG Talis S pullout (night as graceful looking as the Allegro) --also about 12" high.

or maybe the semi-arc (also 12" high) :

All of these are available in the steel optik finish.

I can imagine that for rinsing veggies in the prep sink the pull down might make the most sense, but maybe for filling a pot when the sink is full a pull-out might be better.

Any thoughts re aesthetics? I would have thought the Talis-S pull-out would go better with the high arc than it does.

Did you install the Talis, or at least stick it in the plumbing hole for a few days, to really give it a chance? I first thought it was too big on my island also, but then realized it was because the faucet is the only thing sticking up in the air in the middle of the room. The visual shock of seeing *anything* taller than the island can affect your decision. After I lived with mine for a few days, I got over it. It does not feel too tall. I LOVE the faucet and like that it matches the one at the cleanup sink. I'm not a matchy person in general.

Of your choices:

Don't like the Allegro because the lines aren't as clean and simple as the Talis you'll have at the cleanup sink. It's even more curvy than that pic shows.

Don't like the Talis pullout with the pulldown.

The semi-arc is better.

Thanks breezygirl-- haven't installed either yet. We'll try setting it in the hole and giving it another good look at the prep position.

I have a Hansgrohe high arc pull down (full size) at my prep sink on a small island and I had the same reaction as breezygirl.

When it was first installed and the only thing on the counter it seemed huge and visible from everywhere. Once everything else moved into the kitchen and there were plants and equipment scattered around, the faucet became one of several things on the island and no longer stood out dramatically.

I just set it up and the full size is not too bad. I think the arc height is fine and really if anything it's that the base seems a bit big to me next to the small prep sink but I'll probably get used to it.

Funny though, while I liked the steel optik finish at the store, given our counters (a matte-ish gray concrete with stones mixed in) I'm thinking that a bit more chrome bling might be nice.

Just curious, if you have the HG faucets, what finish do you have?

My facuets are polished chrome. The steel optik was too spendy for me. Heck, I couldn't believe I had to spend so much as it was for a decent faucet made of metal instead of silver plastic.

Here's a view of the faucets from across the room. The one on the island doesn't seem too ginormous to me. It'll be even less noticable once the counter stools and banquette are in place.

When you mentioned the base being too big, I assume you meant the area with the controller stick at the bottom? Yes, it's a bit large, I guess. Doesn't bother me.

Yes, I'm wanting chrome now. (note: mail-order is great when you know EXACTLY what you want but returning items like bulky heavy faucets can be a bit pricey...)

OK, interior design friend convinced me to stick with the steel optik. Also, he suggested that for our kitchen a pair of different faucets might look better than 2 of the same. I do think the HG Semi-Arc would work. I see that it's more of a pull-out than pull down.

Any thoughts if one or the other style would work better for cleanup or prep? I was thinking maybe the pull-out would have some advantage for prep in that if the prep sink was full with rinsing veggies, it would be somewhat easier to use a pull-out to fill a pot to the side of the prep sink. (Probably a stretch.) Plus it's 4" shorter so might look a bit slicker on the peninsula.

One thing to consider in using the Hansgrohe in a smaller sink is the angle of the water as it comes out of the faucet. I love the faucet but was initially put off by how close to the front edge of the sink the water hit. I replaced it with the Kohler Vinnata but really didn't like the way that looked so re-installed the Hansgrohe and have since gotten use to it. It wouldn't be a problem with your big sink, but may be for the small one. It's a wonderful faucet though.

Good point-- however in my case the depth of both main and prep sinks are 16" deep (and 10" the "other" deep). I'm thinking now about the HG Talis S pull-out for the prep area to change up the look a bit, be lower profile on the peninsula, and make it easy to pull out to the side areas on either side of the prep sink. Even with this lower profile unit our biggest pot will easily fit underneath it in the sink.

It's not the depth that's the issue, it's the front to back dimension. I have the same model as cheri. I did not take the angle of the stream into consideration when I located the faucet and the stream hits too close to the front of the sink. Had I realized it, I would have mounted the faucet an inch back from where it is.

I have a faucet that is by C-Tech-I that looks a lot like the Hansgrohe. I got the C-tech-I to avoid the higher cost of the Hansgrohe, and it is solid stainless steel. I have a sink from the same company and have been satisfied with it too.

If I had to do it again I would get the Hansgrohe because the angle of my faucet is so straight down. I get a little bit of a splatter to the back counter. I have since rotated my handle to be oriented over the sink like Breezy and Cheri127 have. It helps keep the wet hand drips from getting all over the back of the counter.

While I think mine is too tight of an angle, I love it otherwise. I really like the pull down feature over the pull out type. I think it is ergonomically easier.
