Do these photos make it more clear? I've added three more things two of which currently don't exist. Label: Addition - this started out as location for downstairs powder room + laundry + would house 5ft wide coat and shoe closet. Now, considering making it a quiet area, sitting space, piano spot, place for coat closet? would probably have it open to the foyer or glass doors if needed. Label: Possible spot for 1st floor powder room. Self explanatory. Deck - This exists and the spot for powder room is eating in to the deck area as it is currently. NOTE: I've added more detail to the photos in the first comment

moganbla, If the view is a concern AND if you are willing to change the doors and windows, you may consider enlarging the window in front of the large sink. You can put a large window (an entire wall of windows) which you would look out of when seated at the island. On that wall, you don't put any uppers. Changing windows and doors is expensive AND you need to do it carefully because it changes the look of the house from the outside. For example, if you chose to replace the slider door with a glass door, I would replace the door in the laundry room with the same door so that they are cohesive. If you don't want anyone to look into the laundry room, you put an opaque glass or a shade inside. Play with it on the paper and have someone give you an estimate. Then you can decide if it is worth it or not. Is that the bathroom that you will be using in and out of the pool? Do you have another bath in the basement for the pool use? I have a similar L design kitchen of mamagoose' design, where we look out to the view from the island and the sink. No uppers. It works great. I do not have second sink on the island. In your kitchen, second sink would be great if you want to optimize for large parties and multiple cooks. When you have 2 sinks in the kitchen, you lose the storage capacity of the sink cabinet. Sink cabinets are not good for storage because of the plumbing. When you chose NOT to use that for trash, again, you are losing more space because of that second sink. I have a similar size kitchen and similar lay out without second sink and it works fine for me. The reason I chose not to have the second sink was because my kids were young and I knew that they would be doing their homework there for many years to come. My younger son was doing his calculus homework on it yesterday. He prefers it there because he can spread out more. (my kids have small bedrooms and their desks are not big... Again, what kid would have desk as big as this island.) They would be less likely to use the space if their work would get wet. I also wanted to have uninterrupted counter space in the house that was NOT my dining table. Everything in kitchen design is a game of optimization that works for each individual. What works for you may not be for another person. Think through how the house will live now, when the kids are little and when the kids There is no one way to do this. If I am counting the squares in your diagram correctly, you have less than two feet between the wall of the toilet room and the shower, so you cannot expand the shower to the left. I wonder at the diagram, however, because the shower is shown extending right up to the edge of the window, yet that is obviously not true in your photo, where you say the bit of green wall between the window and the shower is about 9 inches wide. That indicates that the bathroom does not match the diagram, to me. Maybe someone else can help you interpret this. I don't know why folks are not joining in this discussion. Since you do not mind losing the door to the closet, you can consider making the shower the same width it is now, but extend its length of that wall as far as you want to go. Of course, the window will have to be modified to have it in the shower, or it will need to be removed. If you don't want a 7 ft long shower, you could add a bump-out or cupboard inside your closet. It seems that no matter where you put your shower, it is going to have a window inside of it if you want it to be bigger or if you don't want to move the toilet room. Having that little room in the center of your bathroom severely limits your options. If you simply extend the shower out toward the closet door, you can have a vanity starting at the window edge where the tub is now, extending toward the shower as far as you wish to go. In front of the windows, you could put in a seat, or get a large plant on a stand. The wall between the window and closet could hold hooks for robes or towels. I would think about ending the vanity before the shower, though, and having towel hooks or a towel warmer there.

Thank you for your comments!. Right now the island is about 3'x5' with 36 inches all the way around it. I know this is smaller than most would desire - but it hasn't been a problem for us. I would certainly consider a range vice a wall oven. The issue i have with it being on the wall where the oven is now is that my cook/prep area would be mostly behind me, and even then - its the narrow side of the island. It might work - i'm just not 100% sold on that yet. I thought about the fridge next to the pantry - but the biggest issue there is that i only have 24 inches of depth - and thus the fridge will stick out into the walkway. I thought about a counter depth fridge, but i only have 36 inches to work with there - and the reduction in fridge space would be a non-starter (its always PACKED!) Removing the wall oven is certainly something we're looking at to maximize counter space. One thought i got from your comment is maybe splitting up the cooktop on the exterior wall and then putting the oven under counter next to the pantry. Something like this is an option i was considering.
