I see some green wall between the shower and the window. The diagram indicates that the shower goes all the way to the window. Can you measure the actual depth of the shower, and the amount of wall between the shower and the window?

Are you willing or able to move the toilet closet, or to get rid of the room around the toilet?

Thanks for responding, Nancy! I am in Michigan too! At most there is 9 inches between the end of the shower and the beginning of that window. I measured from the back wall of the shower to the closet door, and it is 80 inches.

I don't want to move the toilet closet because I like having a toilet closet. However, we might be able to make the closet shorter to free up wall space. I am not against sealing off the master closet door since there is a door to the master closet in the master bedroom. Doing so would give us 46 inches of wall space.

How far is it from the back wall of the shower to the window molding? An extra 9 inches would make that into a real, grown-ups shower. But the toilet room may limit how much you can move the shower wall to the left.

Your other option is to put the shower where the bath tub is, making the glass in the windows obscured, tempered glass and the frames waterproof. Even then, the walls of the toilet room limit the size of the shower. So, is that toilet room necessary for the two of you? Or will you pay to move the toilet to the space where the shower is?

If I am counting the squares in your diagram correctly, you have less than two feet between the wall of the toilet room and the shower, so you cannot expand the shower to the left. I wonder at the diagram, however, because the shower is shown extending right up to the edge of the window, yet that is obviously not true in your photo, where you say the bit of green wall between the window and the shower is about 9 inches wide. That indicates that the bathroom does not match the diagram, to me. Maybe someone else can help you interpret this. I don't know why folks are not joining in this discussion.

Since you do not mind losing the door to the closet, you can consider making the shower the same width it is now, but extend its length of that wall as far as you want to go. Of course, the window will have to be modified to have it in the shower, or it will need to be removed. If you don't want a 7 ft long shower, you could add a bump-out or cupboard inside your closet. It seems that no matter where you put your shower, it is going to have a window inside of it if you want it to be bigger or if you don't want to move the toilet room. Having that little room in the center of your bathroom severely limits your options.

If you simply extend the shower out toward the closet door, you can have a vanity starting at the window edge where the tub is now, extending toward the shower as far as you wish to go. In front of the windows, you could put in a seat, or get a large plant on a stand. The wall between the window and closet could hold hooks for robes or towels. I would think about ending the vanity before the shower, though, and having towel hooks or a towel warmer there.

Can you provide photos of the bedroom room looking toward the bathroom and a plan of the bedroom, closet and bath for continuity. Can you steal space from the walk in closet? Then you can move the shower into the end of the closet and it will be wider and deeper Than it is now.

Remove corner tub and make is a rectangular tub on the 14’ wall. Extend the vanity to where the shower is. Shift the vanity to the right depending on the length of the tub.

Too many doors inside the bathroom. The toilet room and it’s door in the middle of the bathroom really hogs all the space. Likewise the toiletry closet room. Can you move the bathroom entry and swap it with the toilet room? Can the toilet room then be moved to face or encompass the toiletry closet? Then you may not need a toilet room door and/or a bedroom entry door. We have that set up and it has never been a problem. The openings are framed such that you can add a door if you later decide you need it.

Is this a floor wood over a basement or a concrete slab? If you have wood floors, then it is far easier to move the plumbing.

Another option is having a glassed in shower where the toilet room is, across from the vanity. Houzz photos show many like this. Then a beautiful shower can reflect in the vanity mirrors instead of the toilet room door. But you would have to steal a foot from the master bedroom. Move the toilet to the current shower area, (and have the window for light) and move the toiletry closet to the master closet door location. Move the bedroom entry door to the left where the toiletry closet is. Place a rectangular tub on the left wall. With the tub on the leff and the toilet on the right, there should be room for a 7foot+ built in vanity.

Move things around by considering a blank 14’x7’ room. I think the original builder/ designer missed the mark by placing the toilet room so prominently in the middle of the bathroom. It‘s too bad they did not make the bathroom 1’ wider, 14’x8’. But if you can steal space from the adjoining room, I think that your best bet.
