Please help with cabinet hardware advice

I am getting my cabinets in two weeks and beginning to think about hardware. Appliances are stainless, faucet polished chrome. Door knobs antique pewter. Kitchen will be transitional painted Shaker cabs in BM Revere Pewter. Tech Cable lighting in brushed aluminum (but could switch to pol nickel)

Would polished nickel cabinet hardware be a mistake in terms of keeping clean? I love it and have it in two baths, and always needs polishing (even though I don't polish it.) Also, does pol. nickel read more traditional? Lastly, will it look funny to add a third silver toned metal in kitchen.

How do chrome and stainless compare in terms of looking nice? Do most people match the stainless appliances vs. chrome faucet?

Ask what you can do if you are unhappy with some aspect of the cabinets after they are made.

Ask if he/she has any ideas to improve your plan.

Ask to see samples of doors, hinges, etc. Ask for a sample of the finish you are ordering. Ask if there typically is a problem with any of these.

Ask how his/her timetable looks. What is projected time to fabricate them? What could throw off this timetable?

Ask about what it will cost you to transport and/or store the cupboards before installation.

Ask about payment pattern and whether credit cards are accepted.

Ask how adjustments in cost are made when a problem or change occurs.

I think you may have meant this for a response to another post. Or perhaps I was unclear - I was looking for advice on the cabinet pulls/knobs.

@Century Hardware, those pulls look great! I like it! @cpaul1 I like oiled rubbed bronze finish, but I wonder would it work with stainless steel appliences (sorry I've forgot to mention that)? @P Banos I like the strap look, it makes a lot sense to match it with flat panels. Thanks!

The last think anyone wants to have finicky pulls in a kitchen. Those would be a mess if ones hands were wet and if one had fingernails at all. I have regular pulls and if my hands are wet, I can use my pinky to pull open a cabinet or drawer. In a kitchen and a bath, function simply must trump form.

Is there a general rule / guideline on the placement of cabinet hardware? How do you handle different size cabinets? My cabinet drawers range in width from 23 1/2 to 28 1/2. They have an inset which is where the handle pulls will be placed. I've included a couple of photos.

Actually I am so glad you mentioned color. I ordered white dove and mocha cherry. I got the samples last night. I honestly thought the white looked whiter but then I thought it was the night time lighting and didn't really think about it. When I saw you said yours was oatmeal I looked at it and saw the white dove also which is definitely creamier. Turns out the sample I got is actually essential white (WAY more white like a bright light. I thought maybe I had lost my mind but I knew I had really liked it when I was selecting!!!). Phew. So I really did order white dove, which is a bit whiter than oatmeal but definitely not a bright white. Sorry to derail this. But thank you!!!

We have polished nickel everything in our main bath. It's gorgeous, but we have hard water and it's difficult to keep the hardware shiny. So we're going for satin nickel in our kitchen, even though I would prefer polished. The satin nickel goes well with our stainless appliances and faucets. We also considered orb. But I LOVE polished nickel. (Hmmm, maybe I should rethink this!)

I don't think 3 silver metals is bad...of course, I'm biased as I have:
Brushed nickel faucets, soap dispensers, air switch, & pantry door hardware (hinges & handle)
Antique iron hardware
Pewter pendants
Stainless steel sinks, range hood, & appliances (and paper towel holders)

I just realized we have four different silver metals!

As to polished...I don't think it will be nearly as noticeable if your cabinet knobs/pulls aren't sparkling polished...but it will be noticeable on your faucets. You are already planning a polished chrome faucet so I'm assuming water spots, etc. don't bother you (plus you said the hardware in your bathroom always needs polishing (even though I don't polish it.)).

If it won't bother you on your faucets, I don't think it will bother you on your hardware. And, as I said previously, I don't think the hardware will be as noticeable.
