Jay you made me laugh! I have to admit...DS's bathroom does not have any animals in it..in fact the whole floor is animal free so far...so perhaps that's why the turtle is calling to me. Don't you hate it when plumbing speaks?

I know you already have tile for DS's room, but for your new house in Duluth, you should check out the Pratt & Larson catalogue. They have a fantastic pond & forest series - there's turtles swimming & dragon flies & fish.. there's little hooks shaped like branches.. all in wonderful clear, water glazes. Very magical. I saw it in person, and found you a link to the catalogue .. page 50-51.

Can you imagine that when I sold the place..."Oh yes it's got a french range, and wonderful granite...but what you really have to understand you're paying for with this house is the bathroom faucet....see it's a turtle..." heh heh Ok fantasy over...back to reality (dang it!)

That set would be a great complement to some lizard door handles that I fell in love with - also way too pricey for my budget, lol.

At the local high end plumbing supply place is a dragon bathroom faucet that I secretly adore even though it's got nothing to do with anything in my house. The dragon breathes firewater out of its mouth. Very fierce. I adore dragons. It's only $2000...such a deal...they don't sell too many, the guy confided one day. Can't find it on the internet, otherwise I'd post a pic.

I bet you could make one, especially since you want different handles anyway. You could start with something like a garden turtle fountain and re-plumb it, or have a plumber re-plumb it if DIY isn't your thing. I bet you could have it done for a couple hundred, max, or do it yourself for $20. You know, if you truly must have it. It is really cute.

Well, I know you will be surprised to here this, igloo, but I also love that faucet. And being in So.Cal., I love the starfish handles, too. That faucet would be right at home since we have a pet water turtle named Squirt. :-)

Perhaps you can find some turtle drawer knobs instead? I also saw some very clever Herbeau faucets in a specialty design shop that might work, but they're not available online anywhere. We had a dragonfly robe hook and leaf drawer pulls in our last house (went with our fairie garden powder room).

Raenjapan, you have a good idea- I was kinda thinking the same thing cuz I have a dragon fountain on my deck, and it's not rocket science, it's just basically water coming out a pipe with a valve closing it on and off. (Course that's easy for me to say- but I do think it's doable)

The granite (I think it's granite not marble) is called Black Marinich (I hope I spelled that right). Someone just posted a kitchen with it...I just love the stuff! And my little brain thinks that when DS washes his hands it will stimulate his little brain to want to explore rocks and science and stuff (ok like a boy will wash his hands that much) :oP

When I give these "How to make a faucet" ideas to my plumber....I hope he dosen't kill me...

but what is interesting about it is that the working parts of the faucet need to be purchased separately. The spout and handles shown above simply attach to the working parts, and the spout is not much more than fancy-looking curved pipe. So one possibility would be to buy the Moen M-pact faucet mechanism, and have a custom-made turtle spout made.

And the price is a little less than $7000 too.

Igloo - looked for a while to try to help you locate a fanciful faucet (have enjoyed your photos of your kitchen knobs and rooster backsplash), but came up empty. Surely a company other than Guerin makes such a thing. Stumbled upon a couple of cool design sites (unrelated to bath fittings)that you, and others may enjoy.

I'd probably rather commission a sculptor to do a custom piece that could be affixed in a cosmetically desirable manner to a standard faucet. You could specify the patina, even.

I looked for ladder fabric for a sling cover suggestion and couldn't find one, but you might like this. Climbing and all ;p
