I have an integrated F&P double dish drawer and really like it. It has taken some getting used to and requires rethinking about how dishes, glasses, pots, etc., are loaded, and there are some limitations on height of items that can be placed inside, but it is quiet, saves water/energy, cleans well, and gosh darn it, I like the cute little chime noise it makes when I open it up! If I had the space, I would definitely put one drawer on either side of the sink because it is so easy to just use the top drawer. Depending on the amount of daily cooking I do, and let's face it, all of us are doing more home cooking these days, I do full loads in each drawer every other day. The two design elements that I would love to see improved are: 1) having a top sprayer since sometimes there's residue that doesn't get all washed off due to the bottom-only wash arm, and 2) needing to position cookie sheets, big pans, plastic cutting boards, etc., at a slant inside if they are wider than the drawer height so that the drawer can close. I just want to say that I absolutely LOVE my F&P dish drawers! They are exactly perfect for our needs. It's usually just the two of us, so using just one drawer is ideal. When it's not just the two of us, it tends to be lots and lots of people. In that case using both drawers and being able to start one while the other isn't yet full or being able to generate more clean dishes at the same time as we're using others has worked beautifully. Each drawer holds way more than half of what my old KA DW held, so together, the two drawers hold way more than a regular DW. It takes awhile to get used to loading them, but once you do, you can fit in an amazing amount without interfering with its cleaning ability. I find it amazing that it took this long for such a revolutionary but obviously needed change in DW design to occur, but now that it has, I will never go back to the old shin-banging door and clumsy racks.

Question for @dadoes who posted information regarding prism location above. Can you explain if the prism is missing how it would be re-installed and what holds it in? BACKGROUND: We had a DD24 installed in a new home and when we finally went to use the lower drawer it just chimes and doesn't run. Upper drawer operates fine. We've been working with Paykel on warranty repair, but they've been unable to help with no service provider available in our area. Being handy, I decided to take a look to see if I could find a loose connection or possibly see something awry. When we removed the lower drawer for said inspection a small piece of "plastic" fell to the floor. We thought this was odd but didn't think much of it until stumbling upon this thread. It turns out this plastic piece is the very prism in the picture above. Which no doubt is the source of our problem! So I'm seeking advice to understand how to reinstall/hold it in place... sort of thinking to the reason it might have been dislodged and/or if something might possibly be broken and what workarounds I might be able to implement if something is broken?

PepperPie, The lock function does not make for a tighter seal during use, it just keeps the lid closed after the cycle ends until you manually unlock it with the button. You can leave it closed/locked as long as you want. In practice, just leave it until you're ready to unload. Unlock the drawer, pull it fully open and leave it for a while so the residual moisture can evaporate. Note that the lock button has two levels of locking. Press and hold it for a beep, that locks just the controls so kids playing can't turn the machine on or off, although the drawer can still be opened. Continue to hold the lock button past the 1st beep until a 2nd beep, and that locks the controls AND the lid so the drawer can't be opened until it's unlocked again. The 2nd lock function is a further child safety so kids can't get in and be hurt on sharp knives or whatever. Both levels of locking can be engaged whether the drawer is running or not. To unlock (from either level), press and hold Lock until it beeps once. Locking at the 2nd level is what you want to defend against the moisture problem. You might also want to check your instruction manual for an Enhanced Drying option. Some DD models have this feature, which leaves the lid sealed and the drying blower running for 4 hrs after the cycle ends. Otherwise the lid unseals immediately after the cycle's programmed drying period, although the blower will run for 30 mins longer unless the drawer is opened.
