florantha suggested resurecting this thread to post my kitchen wall. Here it is: Love the red accent. It is SW Poinsettia. We just finished an update of our 14 year-old builder kitchen. The housing market does not justify a total remodel, in our locale, which was our initial plan. Here's a summary of what we used: Dishwasher - Bosch, Whisper Quiet Refrigerator - Jenn-Air, Side-by-Side, cabinet depth Range - Jenn-Air, natural gas, slide in 4-burner with single oven plus warming drawer Sink - Soci, 16 x 28 x 10 undermounted, 15 guage Faucet - Blanco Disposal - KitchenAid, 1HP Granite - Cathedral Brown. We continued it onto the window sill and a new top for the side table. Backsplash - 4 x 4 stainless tile Paint - Cabinets: Cabinet Coat, White, semi-gloss. Walls: C2, Shaker and Fusion - both in Eggshell finish. Accent wall: SW Poinsettia From appliance shopping to completion of room painting took 37 days. We handled all the painting DIY. Because we had been considering a remodel or facelift for so long, decisions were fairly easy and we caught the granite fabricator in a slow time so the counters were installed in only 11 days. Oakley- I like the Sisila but don't know that that works with the furniture. It also has gold in it. (Dang pinkish carpets.) I know it give the dimensions of the scale but it helps me to see the fabric IRL or a photo of it on something. I'll look around, thanks. I also like the Selim but the colors are little too cheery. I'm going to pass on the table. I like it but starting thinking it reminded me of a nightstand. I have bb wallpaper leftover. I actually have painted posterboard inside the ends, but could cover foamcore board. Tina - That made sense about preferring the color in accents. I think her pillows are from PB. I like all her pillows and would switch her houses, ha. Sadly, our PB outlet was really lacking the last time I was there. Tuesday - I really like those photos, thank you. Kswl - I like crewel work pillows. About the burlap tablecloth, with the wingchair being beige/tan you don't think that side would be lacking color; worsening the unbalanced feel? I've been meaning to get a glass top so will look into local. Geo, Val, Tuesday, Oakley, Kswl - I pick up a sample of the Saybrook. It is a pretty color and on and off over the past 6 months I've had occasional thoughts of painting the kitchen area (currently BM Olive Branch) a similar color. I think it would work better with the floor, etc. Anyhow, my biggest concern is I paint the room Saybrook and 6 months down the road we decide to replace the furniture. It's not in the plans but... I also think I'd feel more comfortable with a color like Shaker as it's similar to what I have. I was thinking about carrying the LR color through the foyer and hall, which also has the brown carpet, to help the flow. The color there is even worse than the LR color paired with the carpet. I never cared for it once on the walls. Geo - I like the idea of the Saybrook better for accents in the room. I'd be ok with changing the back of bookends to that color. I like the cream idea too. I probably could take the doors off but DH and I both like the glass. Also the ends light up and we turn them on a night. I KNOOOOWWW, Parma--I've thrown myself!! Sigh!! Daylight and night have really done me in!! Right now----I have many chips in hand and have decided (in daylight) that 'Believable Buff' may be an option if it doesn't go too olive green at night for me. BM's Monroe Bisque or Pittsfield Buff also look good with the leaning toward the more 'tan' of the MB being a better match for our sofa (which I've come to hate the fabric of)!It's a plaid (groan) that incorporates a deeper teal green stripe (1/2") with crosses of stripes that look more tan/peach (groan)and other crossings that create almost a grey/green! I know---but, I thought it was wonderful 15 years ago!!! I'd get rid of it and go for something new, except it is a very good quality built 'Bern'(amish families--kin to the Smith's, both in Indiana who also make a great line of furniture) line, substantial, an all-wood construction with all the details that make for an excellent piece--except for the fabric--NOW. I know there is no yellow in the fabric. I know it probably doesn't make any sense to go that direction, but I love the warmth of yellow and hope it can be considered 'neutral' going with almost anything! I have EK's 'Buttercream' in our master bedroom with her 'Ashen Green' trim and it's an awesome look but not for this room. The green would wash out to grey (tried it) and the Buttercream would bleach out, too! I've considered the 'Honeysuckle' but I really can't deal with too much in the way of 'peach' tones which I fear it could gravitate toward in that room! However, I bet it would work if I could tolerate the moments of pinkish yellow! It sounds more right for the funiture! I also need to get this done, because the flooring goes down on the 28th and I fear I could not get a sample pot from EK fast enough to get it all done, if it's not what I like in the end! I've recently reupholstered a platform rocker for our youngest daughter and am seriously considering undertaking recovering this sofa--into a single color (more neutral)and with texture! Another project!! Sigh! I'm off to the stores!!!!! Groan!!!!

Oakley - That is something I thought of a few months back, but needed to see the wooden valance gone. Where would you install the rod? I like the look of the tall ones. I don't think I can make that fit that the rod isn't running over the moulding. This one is ok. This looks like skimpy napkins to me. I don't think my window is wide enough. Inside measures 27.75"W x 34.5"H. With trim is 33"W x 37.25" H to sill. You said about less fluff. I know it will be fake, but I figured there should be some fullness so it doesn't look unrealistic. Tina - Did you mean to attach something? Which one are you talking about? Annie - Thanks for the photos. They look nice. Tension rod definitely seems like the easiest thing for an inside mount. Ratherbesewing - That looks nice. Good job around the trim. Tannatonk - Thanks! That's a great idea. I'd like to let the max amount of light I can get away with so I probably wouldn't lower a shade in this case. Mtnrd & Annie - I know, the window is quite small and an inside mount means not much fabric. I don't know that I mind a header, but can't find a photo of a roman with one. Instead of an inside mount, I could keep the hardware where it's currently located. That's white wall, not trim, showing in the photo I posted at the beginning of the thread. I think I need to buy a tension rod and do some mock ups.
