Hey guys,
I've been hesitant to post this, but here goes. Sorry, it's long. *shrugs* domino effect.
GOAL: COORDINATE THE ROOM BETTER.
For years I've completely ignored the fact that my pinky brown carpet clashes with the gold in the room and have finally decided to repaint and tweak. Eventually we'll replace carpet with hardwood and replace entertainment stand with built ins but that probably won't happen for quite a few years.
Please don't take this wrong, but I don't care to talk about furniture placement. We've (GW and myself) have rearranged this room literally every way possible and the main pieces need to stay as is until something's replaced.
That said, the right side of the room is really heavy and I thought adding drop cloth curtains would visually help a little and also tie in the wingchair better.
I've been wanting to add dark blue to the room for about a year now. I'm not sure if this is actually my problem or not but I feel the red, gold (which I think should be removed), and green color palette is really tight/stiff.

PAINT:
I think I narrowed it down to BM Shaker Beige. Thoughts on this? See photos below.
DROP CLOTH CURTAINS: - (Is drop cloth one or two words?)
Years back it was suggested I try cream curtains and I brought home cream/white silk dupioni that looked horrendous to me in all their starky white marshmallow glory. I now think the material was a big part of the problem. I ran the other direction and bought dark brown silk curtains and used them on thick clip rings. I recently made these drop cloth curtains but believe I needed more rings (have 4 packs) and it looked sloppy. I'm fine with the rod pocket look.
The colors of everything in these two photos look very accurate on my monitor. (carpet, paint, dropcloth fabric, chair)

The wall color isn't THAT garish and carpet isn't that pink IRL. - Easter egg tree is for the kids that visit. Pastel colors aren't me.

PILLOWS: - The furniture is gold and dark green but the green could easily pass for blue, IMO.
What to do. . . I love the paisley furniture but it really stumps me with fabrics which is why I went with solid and texture before.
-Bronzy/gold silk pillow covers should go.
-The ones with fringe are a brownish green which is in the furniture. They were from JCP and had them in navy blue but I don't believe they carry them anymore. Note - cream color of the wingchair is in the pillow fringe. I'd like to try and keep these if I can work around it. That's not a must though.
-I felt the drop cloth used as pillows looked stark since it's on a different plane than the curtains and too boring/pain. Maybe they'd look better jazzed up with a large button(s).
-I have this blue wool plaid remnant. Not sure that this is it but at least you can see a dark blue in the room.

-I can't tolerate more that the 5 pillows on the couch (currently only use 4) and 3 on the loveseat. They end up on the floor now and get on my nerves, but it looks unfinished without them.
-Tonight I found linen colored pillows sporting a cream, nubby texture on the front that looked like thick pull threads in a good way. I got side tracked and forgot about them. I'd like to see what they look like in here.
-I also wondered about a blue ticking stripe.

THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROOM: (left side)
So you don't have to scroll back up.

Ugh. I feel like the skirted table helps add some heft to this side of the room, but the caramel color tablecloth from Ballards should probably go if I'm ditching golds, no? What do I use? The topper and pillow are fabrics from my bedroom and can change. I do have a traditional looking round/pie crust type table but it's obviously visually smaller and I'm honestly over the look.
I have a bunch of matching pillows that came with the sofa and loveseat and I threw one on the wingchair with a navy towel mocking up a throw blanket but the whole thing looked disjointed. Could be because the whole room is disjointed and also I'm not used to seeing it.
OTHER NOTES:
-I can repaint the back of the bookends a different color.
-The lamp by the window is new and I like it. The one with the tassels can be replaced when I get a game plan together.
-The hunt print above the wing chair that you can't really see will stay, but the other art (only have two other prints) can go. I've been searching for a few years for something to use above it (hunt print) but haven't found anything yet.
-I keep trying to add blue plates in here but it doesn't look right to me. Perhaps because it would be the only blue thing in the room.
- I don't HAVE to add blue but I do want this room to come together more. I know blue works well with pinky browns as well as creams.
Thoughts? Thanks!
