Blue Velvet Sofa-The Bar Cart

My room is almost done. I'm just awaiting a piece of glass, a coffee table delivery and one more art purchase.

Here's the bar cart.

Ignore the wire mess on the floor. The playstation is going in the tv stand and we're putting an outlet behind the tv stand to hide the rest of it.

beautiful!!! I love those pieces....so retro and yet fresh at the same time. Do you mind saying where you purchased your art? The scale is perfect.

I bought it from Hampton House in New Minas Nova Scotia. I'm not sure what wholesalers they use. But they it is limited production hand painted art.

We went everywhere in Halifax looking for stuff. All the normal stores were selling horse painting and poppies. So we went back to Hampton House which is where we bought the couch and the art was much pricing but millions above in quality. I love Etsy but I found it difficult to search for paintings when you are looking for something specific.

Since the rug adds the brightness, I like the more muted neutrals like the upper left or an oatmeal (grey-beige) tweed. Then accent with the caramel or bronze and dark navy combination to bring in the navy if you like that. Maybe even another navy chair. I must say here that I'm not a big fan of a lot of blue, so take my comments with that in mind. I just think a big blue sofa might (1) fade over time when you have a big window nearby and (2) be something you'd be tired of looking at in a few years. Beautiful room, by the way.

what a pretty place!! the fireplace, the shelving..oh my you gravitate to more modern glam-a bit-boho from what I read-so yes, your coffee table, TV console and, lastly, dining table are in a bit of a dissonance..a bit too rustic. also they have to be bigger. But not bulky visually, at the same time. (to the light, I'd get last unless I stumble upon something I love-because currently it kinda goes with everything. Do you have enough storage for all of your supplies behind the bar? I might put a bar cart on one side of the bar with framed art above it, and a club chair in the corner on the other side (if you can slide the couch down a bit to make some room). Other option would be to flank the bar with club chairs. I would add open shelving in wood or glass behind the bar (where the painting is). I actually wouldn't do wallpaper or an accent wall behind the bar because you have the bulkhead on that wall. I would instead paint the walls and the bulkhead the same color. I like dark masculie blues or greens for a bar area, depending on how much light you have in the basement.

That is gorgeous!!! You have incredible style. And so does grandma! Two thoughts - Either, go with the “U” shape and put the grandma couch in a different space ( this is what I’d personally do because I feel like the navy one can be such a showstopping piece in a smaller space with not much else around it. ) Or you can skip the added piece and leave it as is. You do need a very big , heavy looking coffee table. I would do one. Again, stunning space!! Can’t wait to see what you do...

I checked out your blog on one of your previous posts. You and your family seem to be enjoying your "life on the homestead".

Tuesday- We just called and switched the coffee table. We realized it was a bit too big for the space. We went with my choice. The other one was hubby's. It's not the table I would pick if I could pick from any table in the world (I'd go with lucite or that lovely steamer trunk from Restoration Hardware) but it was the best of the options we had.

ENMc-I got it from Home Depot Canada online for $169 on sale. I was pleasantly surprised with it. It's chrome and glass and looks very nice considering the price. The glass is nice and thick.

The piece is called Infinity 2 Tier Trolley from Worldwide Home Furnishings Inc.

I am looking forward to the after pics of the whole room. That lampshade and picture have me wanting to do holiday decorating to bring some "red" into each room.
