Bathroom dilemma in basement
Comments (12)Just finished a basement off in this foreclosure I purchased. When I bought the house, the copper rough in was already done, but I had to redue the existing soil line under the floor as they forgot the back water valve. That's about $1,000 if the plumber does it and has to rip it all out and install all new soil line including the shower drain and toilet line. Make sure they are license. Then the shower unit, valve, toilet, vanity, medicine cabinet, faucet, fan/light for shower, and so forth ran about $1,000. I choose a Auquaglass three piece 5 foot wide- similar to a legth of a bath tub. I have one if you need one, but the pan is cracked just a bit, about 4 inches and you can repair that. The walls are new. Plumber fees cost $750. Electrical fees cost around 650. The greenboard, sanding, priming and painting cost does add up. Think I used 13 sheets of green board and 12 sheets of drywall for the outside walls, use atleast 3 cans of mud. I say if you can get it done for 5 grand, your lucky. Try adding 15% to the cost for the unexpected for good measure....See MoreHelp with basement bar design
Comments (8)Our basement is finished and similar sized at 1100 square feet. We have a 26 foot bar in our basement with 13 bar stools. Similar walk behind design. One full size refrigerator, one commercial beer fridge, one wine refrigerator, two tvs, led undercabinet and top of bar lighthing (we change the led colors depending on the season / occasion) and led lit step bottle display with a mirror as the center focal point, also a full size dishwasher (a must!) and sink. The focal point of the bar is the mirror and lit step bottle display in the center with the two flat screens set in cabinetry on either side. We entertain frequently and use it all the time!...See MoreBasement decor/design dilemma
Comments (4)Why would you need coats hanging there it's not an entryway. etc Like someone said a reading nook would be nice, bookshelves if you have books, maybe a counter with a small fridge under it, to make drinks, etc....See MoreBasement flooring dilemma
Comments (1)I would not do laminate in a basement. As dry as you think it is, broken pipes do happen. Try a glue down vinyl. My daughter put this product throughout her beach house. It looks so real, guest have to touch it to believe it is not wood. https://www.earthwerks.com I have no problem with dark colors in a basement. You need lights on, anyway, so why do white? All you see is shadows in the corners. Try something like B.M. Gull Wing Gray....See More- 5 years ago
