Free Turtles to SoCal Locals
Comments (10)I have two painted turtles and they don't bother my plants to the point of interfering with their natural growth. That's probably because I feed them. My yard was once full of dandelions, but now I have trouble locating any. That's because I throw them into the pond and the turtles love them. They will also eat a variety of fruits and vegetables along with reptile pellets from the pet store. The problem I have with the reptile pellets is that the turtle need some time to get them down and my gold fish will take the pellets right out of the turtle's mouth. Just my opinion, but turtles are the most fascinating creatures you can have in your pond. Mikey, I hope I improved on your sale pitch. Most pet store turtles end up in an indoor environment with improper containment and lighting. Turtles need deep water to swim in and sunlight for their shell. I hope your's find a good home....See MoreTurtle Islands, Myth and Reality in JG
Comments (51)Gerald --- Yes, Andrea is right. Of course Tamao Goda (Doug's wife) is also participating in their little ruse, so that accounts for stylistic differences. In addition, Tim Hansken (their "copy editor") is also weighing in under psuedonyms. This is what several of us have been complaining about for some time now. It's the group we've been referring to as the "Fantastic Five," etc. They've gotten more clever about planting red herrings to mask their identity. Remember "Watanabe-san"? He was a pretty transparent pseudonym. Be suspicious of any poster who apprears in 2005 out of nowhere, seems to know tons about Japanese gardens, lists no personal information, usually lists no e-mail contact, is fiercly loyal to JOJG, parrots JOJG themes and pet peeves, etc. These psuedonyms are also usually fishing for information (which sometimes appears later in JOJG articles) on broad subjects, and they rarely share any detailed personal experience or information. Never pictures. Of course now that I've said all this it will allow them to adjust their next rash of shills to dodge the profile. As further evidence of this, since I started complaining about it here on GW my name and business information disappeared from the JOJG website as a designer and builder of Japanese gardens in Maine. I'm honored to join the ranks of the likes of Julie Moir Messervy, Pat Chasse, Marc Peter Keane and Matsuhiko Seko, all Japanese garden designers of the northeast U.S. who are now shunned by JOJG due to their failure to kowtow. Comments (0)I need opinions on someone that has painted with Baby Turtle. What color did you use for the fabrics on the room. Please tell me if you like the curtains. I also posted on decor forum. I am trying to take better pictures but is hard with the light, there is the same green on the fabric. The pillow is only pretend but I can make them for the chair or the couch. The color on the wall is baby turtle by BM and it looks so much nicer in person. I think I like this ones better. Please give opinions. They are still not finish keep that on mind. I like the short rode but it can be with rings o without or could be pleated. Thank you for your help....See MorePlease help with my living room paint....
Comments (19)It's a lovely room and I really like the paint and the white trim. I don't think it's going to take much to give you the warmth you're looking for. A large coffee table (I'd go for glass top with dark metal) will really add to your space, since it will give you a spot on which to bring some textures and colors into the center of the room, as well as a spot to set your coffee mug or wine glass! I'd look for some throw pillows with lots of white or cream (to be bright and light against the sofas) with touches of colors. I don't think the colors need to be exact matches to your rug. Pottery Barn type pillows could be really pretty and bring some life to the space. Many of these could work with your colors. Take a look at the Anna Marie Bird and the Spring Flower Embroidered pillows and the way they mix them (in additional images viewable when you click on each pillow) with other patterns. Might you like something like this look? They are expensive, but there's a 15% off sale for another day or so. Of course you could find a similar look elsewhere (TJ Maxx, Target?). Now that I've suggested this for you, I'm going back to see whether I want to splurge on some of the pillows for my own living room. Have to say I love those nature themes and the freshness they bring! I also love the Suzani embroidered pillow. Hmmm. Good luck!
