Need few opinions on outdoor fan color pic

I'm just about all decisioned out!! We are building in the middle of a farm, a craftsman style house. We have lots of outdoor porches 3/4 way around the house. The ceiling is beadboard, painted haint blue (to deter the wasp & dirt daubers-- but so far, it's not deterring them). My windows are bronze. Would you go with a bronze fan / brown blades or go with white?

Oh what a gorgeous house!!!! I love the roof line. I would definitely go with a bronze. To me it has the strength of color to compliment your windows and the roof. Since your home is so nature oriented the bronze would have a natural look that far surpasses white. To me a craftsman style house seems more masculine and white fans would be more feminine. I'd prefer the bronze.

That's a beautiful home!

A few years ago we painted all open porch ceilings a light blue and haven't had a problem with dirt daubers since.

Our screened porch has a white ceiling. I chose bronze ceiling fans. I just don't care for white fans, but it's purely a personal choice.

Jenny1963, You make me laugh so hard!!!!! I had the 4 by 4 white tile counters all over my kitchen. DESPISED IT. I found cleaning smeared peanutbutter from the tiny grout lines was a pia.. Trust me tiny is far worse than wide. BUT, I must tell MovinginVA, my sister has granite tile (Actually it is a marble that is dark called Emperador) large squares with tiny invisible grout lines and it is BEAUTIFUL. This is in her lake house. It was something her husband chose without her there and at first she was really mad at him but it looks wonderful. My sister is a clean freak and has no complaints about the super thin credit card silver size grout lines. I found a few pictures of tiles. I need to get some pictures of my sister's place. It is winter right now and no one is at the lake too cold. postum, thank you for the link for the curtains. I also like the fuller and higher panels I believe. I'm glad you like how my room is coming together. I'll get a pic of the artwork above the fireplace and post it for you. mclarke, privacy isn't a major factor there, only sun. jgabm, what beautiful framework around your window! Thanks for posting it. palimpsest, I really like the first room I posted, but the WTs hung below the arches seems to give it more of a chopped up look to me. I personally think I like the look of the higher hung panels for my space.

Odiegirl - I am going through the same thing right now. My walls are out of square and there is a gap along the back of my counters. I got the same line about the cutters only cutting straight. I'm not worried about the areas where the backsplash and window apron will cover. However, nothing will cover the wall on either side of the windows. I think there is room to push my counters back, but I don't believe they can be moved at this point (they are already caulked to the cabinets around the front edge and the seam is already epoxied at the sink). We had a few ideas which may help you and maybe others can offer feedback about them. Where there will be no backsplash on the ends (if I am reading your post correctly), paintable caulk could cover the gap and then paint it the color of the wall. Also, you could feather it out with spackle, similar to what Live Wire Oak mentioned. This would be more difficult and involve more spackle dust (which I'm sure you love as much as I do). I have a question, though. What exactly is involved in templating? Desertsteph made me realize that maybe my counters weren't properly templated. My guys only measured (after the cabinets were installed) and then added 3/4" for overhang. They measured the depth in various spots to account for the wall being out of square, but I guess that didn't help in the end, did it? They are coming back this morning to finish the install and I haven't discussed the gap with them yet. Maybe I should make a separate thread for fast help. Anyway, I hope it works out for you. If nothing else, maybe you'll take comfort in the fact that someone else is going through the same thing!

Bronze would be my choice. Since you have stone there is a very pretty outdoor fan by Vaxel that has a stone look in the upper part of the fan. I ordered 2 for my porch which has some stone on it. I haven't received them yet - but I hope I like them. Sorry I don't have the model - check Lampsplus and look at the vaxel line of fans

From what I'm seeing I think bronze would be my choice, but I also think it would depend on what type of furnishings you're going to have out there. If you're with white or lighter colored furniture, etc., I'd go with white. If your furnishings are going to be darker (which seems like it would go with your style/color home better anyway), I'd go with bronze. It's a beautiful home!

Really gorgeous home, it is. I would go with white, the fan shouldn't stand out just cool you.

This is a perfect example of a great home and not the cookie cuter thing.

I did bronze and I love it. I think white would get too dirty outside.

THANK YOU Ladies for your input... truly it has helped make the decision to do bronze since the furniture will be dark brown wicker, and a few dark chairs.

Natal thank you for sharing your beautiful porch picture... I do like the bronze fan. Also, another good point that Caminnc mentioned was the white getting so dirty... and out there, there is plenty of dirt. I am hoping once we get the fans put up, the dirt daubers won't have any little cracks to go into.. I do like the blue ceilings.

Jeannie I will look at the vaxel line; I've never seen fans with a stone look incorporated into the main part... I bet they are pretty!

Jane, thank you for your compliment of the house not being a cookie cutter. We spent a couple years in the planning and now are on month 15 of the construction. Hopefully, by Christmas, we'll be in. The house sits in the middle of the farm, so very peaceful out there. Hoping it will be perfect for us empty nesters as we wind down. Thank you ALL again for your help! This forum has been an invaluable resource during this whole process!

Thank you martini! I hopefully can get some more pictures posted soon. Generally, I try to post in the Building A Home forum under the topic "It's October, How's your build going?" or something like that. It's reassuring to get compliments on it. It's been a painful process for someone who has a hard time making decisions!!
