Because you can see right through my kitchen into dining room and living room I just thought it would be good to have colours that co-ordinated well because its a small area. So I thought neutrals would work well. Thats why I was considering what would work well with the BM Carrington Beige maybe just a shade darker. I had considered doing the kitchen in the carrington beige but because my cupboards and counter top are white thought maybe a bit more contrast would work better. Thanks for any suggestions.

Sorry sew, I misunderstood, or read too fast and it didn't sink in! LOL I have a white embroidered comforter I love and use in the summer, so yes, I do like yours!! When you say a color, are you picturing, 'in your minds eye', bright(red/rust/yellow), cool and subdued(stone blue/aqua/sage green), or neutral(taupe/brown/gold)? You have a blank slate and choosing a color can sometimes be overwhelming. Just keep in mind you will be living with it for quite awhile so choose something you won't get tired of. If you're planning to use the dust ruffle and things you already have, look for colors in those tones/shades. First thing to do is go out and collect paint samples to get an idea how different colors will work in your room in the daytime as well as evening. You'll find you get a lot of variation, depending on the light. I like Behr paint which you can find at HD. Bring home a BUNCH!!! ;o)

I'm bumping this thread up since I just painted my master bath in BM Alexandria Beige, both the interior room with shower/toilet and window......(natural light and florescent light in ceiling) as well as the vanity area that leads off my master bedroom (florescent 3-light fixture with 100w bulbs). I needed something that didn't look odd coming off the bedroom yet, had it's own look, since the gold clashes with my beige shower and vanity tile. Now, I am going to DEFINITIVELY put to bed all the color questions raised above about BM Alexandria Beige! 1. Does it really look like "Coffee with Cream" as stated by Deconovice and Meg711, who both had very pretty shots of AB? **Red answers: Yes. When I opened the can and stirred it up, poured it in my paint tray and also when I took it into my entry to look at it, it was a luscious coffee with cream. And I think Deconovice's shot in her room reflects that very well. 2. Does it have a greenish grey cast and does not read coffee with cream as RenoFan insists? **Red answers: Yes, Reno is also right on the money. You get it painted in a small area with florescent lighting and it certainly has a green ambience. It's about the same depth as a nice Latte, but leaning to green. Reno's room shot on my monitor looked like a rosy brown, but I am going to give her the benefit of the doubt that the photo is off in color. When my DD walked into the tiny (7'x3' not including small shower) bath, she said, "Ahhh! I see you can't get away from green!!" 3. Does Meg's house exterior pic reflect a true Alexandria Beige? ***Red answers: Yes. I think it does. In outdoor light, I do think that tan/coffee color would be totally visible. 4. Could you use it with Gold accents? ***Red answers: Yes. But proceed with caution. Because there is a Definite underlying green to AB (Browns almost always have either a red undertone like a rosy brown, or a green undertone like a deep khaki) gold frames and gold metallics aren't going to look as good with it as something else. I am pairing it with rustic copper Pier one mirrors and copper switchplates/towel holders. Black or Espresso Brown picture frames would be fabulous. 5. Are you a true redhead or are you just shining us on? ***Red answers: Yes. Maybe. I do love the greens though...And AB did not come out in my bath like I thought it would (coffee/cream) but it's rich and gorgeous. Red

Well I tried all of the above when splotching to paint my master bedroom and I really liked the Greenbriar beige except it wasn't fully right either so I custom mixed my own using a few different things, but used the green briar beige as the base, then painted it on a piece of paper and had it color matched. I suggest splotching in your own house as I found they all depended on lighting and the wood tones of my furniture.
