I'm pretty sure inflatable furniture is a big no-no unless you are under the age of 4. Or live in frat house. A person can find very inexpensive iron or wood headboards nowadays. If you have your heart set on a upholstered headboard but are unwilling to pay custom prices, I would check CL or Ebay. I am guessing you could score some serious retro Mad Men-esque heardboard with a little searching.

P.S. I didn't know they even made such a thing! I admit I am intriqued...can you post a pic?

An upholstered headboard is pretty easy to make. Fabric. Foam. Spray adhesive. Buttons and a long needle if you want tufting. And plywood.

My husband and I are disabled and aren't able to build a headboard. I've read a little bit about them and from what I've read they're not bad, but I am concerned about them losing air, and how well they'd hold up in a room that's seldom used. I'm just sick of the vintage/antique bed that we're using now, was thinking of a temporary replacement for a change. I've provided a link to one below.

I had never heard of them and did a search on line. I think it's a great idea and surprised I hadn't seen it used for staging houses. Be great in apartments or dorm rooms and yes, guest rooms
I have a inflatable bath pillow that I use daily and it hasn't lost air in the year I have had it.

The reviews for this product are mixed, it seems you have to glue heavy velcro strips to your wall in order for it to lay flat, or wedge it between wall and mattress , hence it's not nice from a side view. Since you already have a headboard, I think 50$ is still too much for a less than optimal change.

Willowdee, I'm not sure what style your current headboard is but an option might be to make a slipcover out of fabric that coordinates with your room to slide over the headboard. It would be easy to make-just sew three sides together, easy to clean in the washing machine, and you can take it off or change when you get tired of it. Just a thought.

Dee I was going to mention the same thing as joshuasamah did. I can't remember if you sew or not, but if not you might find someone locally that could make a slipcover for you for about the same price as the inflatable one. Email me if you want details of how to make one.

Joshua, the bed I have now has posters so I don't think the slipcover idea would work. Also has a footboard that would clash. I'm soooo tired of it, but it's one of those old vintage/antique bedrooms sets with the kneehole dressing table and I hesitate to get rid of it. I probably will eventually though. I'm sick of looking at it. LOL

Darn! I like the looks of the inflatable headboard, but don't like the fact that it must be fastened to the wall by Velcro strips. I got all excited there for a minute, thinking I might have found something that would work for us. We don't have a headboard in our upstairs (attic conversion) bedroom because the stairs are too narrow and turn in such a way as to make it impossible to get a king-size headboard up. (Found out the hard way when we fell in love with one at a furniture store, but had to send it away with the deliverymen when it just wouldn't go.) We have the bed against a wall, but I'd still love to have a headboard - if only there were a way.

Bought my son a brown suede inflatable headboard for his apartment. I was impressed when it was blown up. He attached it to his painted concrete wall, but it didn't stay up long. He propped it up for awhile, but the last time I visited, the headboard was leaning up in a corner. :(

I have a brown corduroy one for my king size bed and love it. I just have it propped up and it's been that way for a number of years.It hasn't lost air either.It was perfect for our bed. I'd say go for it they're cheap enough.

Wiilowdee I can see where that could be difficult. I found a picture on line of a metal 4 poster with a slipcovered headboard. justgotabeme, yes thank you! I thought the pic would give willowdee an idea of a fabric headboard/slipcovered headboard on her four poster bed. I think it could look great and depending on the footboard that could be covered too. Nice mockup!!
