My living room and dining room are painted creamy white on top and divided by a chair rail, the bottom is a lovely taupe color. I have a split level home and my staircase to my upstairs is sort of enclosed by two walls with 6 steps. I was wondering, would it look weird it I painted one wall, which turns and can be seen from the kitchen, the taupe shade (which I love) and paint the other side creamy white, which you only see when you are in the living room. The only time you see both shades are when you are either going up or down the stairs. The side that is creamy white cannot be taupe because it is part of the wall of the living room and extends up the stairs. There is no chair rail going up the stairs.
