Yes. The first couple of weeks I was completely immersed in it. Like you, I realized my boards were getting a "theme". One thing I noticed was apparently I like scarves!

I did sign up with Twitter in order to Pin but have never used it. Someone told me I could delete my Twitter account now that I have the Pinterest account set up but I haven't tried it yet.

I've pinned a few Art pieces but hadn't thought of using it for decor. That's a great idea since I'm still so confused on what my style is.

DD2 introduced me to it. It is overwhelming at first, but once you've pinned or seen a picture you can move in. Searching a word alone will bring up pictures you haven't seen... and suck more time out of your day.

I love Pinterest... when I first heard about it, I thought it's just another way to waste time on the computer. And the fact that you had to request an invitation, and use a Facebook account... I ignored it for a while. But then I needed a way to bookmark things and I love that you can see the pictures, opposed to using "favorites" where you just get a list of bookmarks. You have to be careful, you can waste hours on that site, LOL!

What I need to figure out is how to unlike a picture so that it will stop showing me that type of picture. For some reason it keeps showing me fashion stuff and I'm not interested in that. Maybe I started following someone who has a fashion board, I don't know.

Todd, I started using it a couple weeks ago. I resisted for a while, but it's actually quite useful. As others said, it's terribly addictive and a huge time consumer. :)

Allison, the site automatically signs you up for a handful of people to follow to get started. At least, it did for me. Click on their name (listed under a pin that doesn't interest you) and it will show you all their boards. Then, you can either unfollow the boards that aren't interesting to you or unfollow that person entirely.

That's the one thing I don't like about Pinterest - they start you to follow a board based. As in by themselves. As in they do it for you. I. Do. Not. Like. That. I don't have time to weed through "following" and go through all the boards to unfollow. >:(

I signed up without using my FB account.

To unlike something, go to the far, top right side and click on your name. Scroll down to Likes and click. Your Likes pop up. Take your arrow and hover over the shadowed Like button and click. LIKE will pop back up unshadowed. When you refresh your page, they should be gone. Can do a bunch at once before refreshing.

I use it and love love love it!

Allison, I'm not quite understanding what you mean? I follow who I want and some people I only follow a single board by them. I actually rarely ever "like" anything and only repin so it will show up on my boards I create. Liking stuff doesn't serve much of a purpose for me. It's super super easy.

It's been a wonderful thing for our house build and has saved me from having to have huge binders to deal with.

I use it and find it very helpful. I use it as a bookmarking tool.

Someone please tell me how to sign up without FB or Twitter. I have an invitation and it only shows those two options. I have been bookmarking the links and it is a pain, as well as addicting.

I just post here now and then, but I wanted to say I'm loving Pinterest. When I first started, I was only following a couple of people that I added - I don't think Pinterest automatically sets you up following others.

I'm using it for crafty ideas, home ideas, recipes to try, books I want to read, Jewish holiday ideas and a few other boards. My user name is same as my user name here.

If you look at the first screen you come to, you can look at other things being pinned by clicking on "Everything." When you the menus down at "Everything" you can choose themes for browsing. A lot of boards aren't categorized so you still get something of a mixed bag, but in general you can look at more of what you're interested in.

Oh I forgot! If you haven't put the "pin it" button on your browser bookmark toolbar, DO IT! it allows you to pin any photo from any website to your folders with one click. So I can be in a blog and want to save that photo to my kitchens folder and all I have to do is hit my pin it button on my browser toolbar and it's done while not even in pinterest itself. Fantastic!!

I have twitter just to follow a few news sites so maybe if you sign up just to do it and then unlink them after?

I figured it out, thanks. I think I started following a person and didn't realize that you could just follow certain boards. I unfollowed her fashion board.

Yes! I've followed people when suddenly they created boards I have no interest in whatsoever. I have to unfollow those boards.

I found a good way to start was to browse around on the everything page and the subjects page for photos I liked. If I liked a photo enough to repin it, then I'd look through the pinner's boards to see if they have other photos I like. If they're consistent enough, I'd follow them. Also, if someone repins something of yours, you get an email notification. I used to check out those people too. I sometimes found people to follow that way. So your home page becomes the people you follow. But eventually people start repining your photos a lot...that got too hard to keep up with. It's a really great, easy way to stay organized with your inspirations. I have so many folders and pins now it's crazy!

When you "unfollow" a board or person does that person get notified? I know when I'm Followed I get a little message that says "Jane Doe is now following Jennifer". I don't want to offend someone, if you know what I mean.

HOWEVER, I'm having major issues (don't I sound dramatic?). I signed up a couple of months ago, and now it's telling me I don't have an account. Liars. I tried to get another "invite" but it's telling me that email is already in use. I'm in an endless circle, so I can't "pin" anything. I just bookmark everything I like at a specific site (defeating the purpose of Pinterest.)

Maybe I need another email address, but if anybody has any solutions, please let me know. I also DON'T want my FB friends to know what I've pinned unless I specifically allow them too. I want people to think I came up with these creative DIY things on my own ;)

I tried to request an invite and this is the email that was sent. What a crock of sh*t. It's almost comical. Of course now that I've been snubbed it just makes me want it more.

Yeah, the whole inviting thing is a little odd. It's not like they have any way of checking you out first to make sure you're not going to post something untoward. Or maybe they do... there's a site where you can put in your name, username, or email and it will search the web and find any place you have posted. So, maybe they use something like that to see if you frequent nudie forums or something, LOL

For the love of dog, can someone please tell me how to unfollow all the randoms they chose for me???? I have been searching and searching. Even the help section mentions unfollowing, but there is not detailed instruction! It's almost as if they don't want you to be able to unfollow people.

As far as I know, you have to go into each person and unfollow them all (at once, under their avatar) or one by one.

I would like Pinterest to STOP assigning me random arse people!

I got so frustrated yesterday I deleted my account and started over. Second time around I didn't choose any categories (art, photography, etc) so it didn't assign any followings except the people I'm friends with on Facebook. So annoying. I wasn't aware they KEPT assigning even after the initial sign up. Great. And I still don't know how to unfollow.

OMG, marcia! I looked for that thread after I made that comment. I could not find it anywhere! I didn't even think my comment was posted. So glad you saw it. I have taste very similar to yours, but unfortunately I think we are in the minority when it comes to GW kitchens. I recognized a kindred style spirit and just had to let you know:)

I found this on another site~but I don't have a 'people' option!

At the top right on your page click on "people", click on "people you follow", click on their name. On the left top is their picture. Click "unfollow all".

And just to make certain. There are people who follow you. They choose you, instead of you choosing them. You can find them under "people you follow".

tinycastles~ I actually haven't looked at the finished kitchens blog in forever.. but after signing up for pinterest, I wanted to make a board with favorite kitchens- I repinned a few of Allisons, then I was looking for pictures of my kitchen to add and I just googled (my old world kitchen~) and it came up! HA! Don't mean to hi-jack.. this is my exterior.. this is a few years ago, shortly after finishing building.. we have more landscaping now!

I finally figured out how to unfollow from this message.. it didn't make sense to click on following to unfollow.. but it worked!

Click on the picture of the person you want to unfollow then click on the grayed out box that says "Following" under their picture. It will automatically unfollow you from all their boards.

It took me awhile to figure things out on Pinterest. Can't say that I have it all figured out - probably never will. W/ things at work being nits I really haven't been on it for a few weeks since I have to buckle down and become disciplined when I work from home.

Pinterest was very frustrating for me for the first week or so and at first I didn't want to sign up when I got the auto reply regarding the invite but I'm glad I signed up. In the end I chalked that invite up to them managing the accounts. I understand that it has grown so quickly for them
