I'd keep the present chairs. they appear higher quality than the CL chair and go better with your table

Thanks, lindac. I'm really ready for a change from the country style of my chairs (although I love the cherry wood).

I know it's not what you want to hear but I'm with LindaC on this, esp. because your chairs really have a modern vibe to them and are definitely sleeker than the CL chair pictured. As I was scrolling through your message and caught the first glimpse of them they reminded me of the iconic Mira chair.

I'm wondering if there are other ways you can bring in the change you want, like an obi table runner or some wabimono-style pottery (here's a chunky, tactile American resource). ???

I have a table almost exactly like yours and I measured my chairs, which I think are a good proportion and they're 36" high. The CL ones are too short, I think.
But, if you were to get those CL chairs, I would definitely paint them.

I really love the chairs you have and don't remember having seen a closeup of them before. I think if you're feeling "country" in your dining room, it may be because of your hutch, which, if I recall, is staying for sentimental reasons.

I do get a country vibe, too. Part of it is the cherry and the style of the chairs, but I agree, the new ones are not better. Perhaps you need a modern centerpiece, or chair cushions and a runner with the style you want to exude (like Ballad Designs French handwriting). Art would help, too!

I agree with the others. The Cl chairs are not an improvement. I think yours are fine, so I'd only change them if it were a big change.

Also agree, I like yours better. If you want a more modern vibe, then I'd search for something more in an MCM style.

The chairs you have now remind me of Smilow Thielle, which is 1960's modern.

For what it's worth, I say keep the chairs. I think they're sleek and would have less of a country vibe with a different table. Something like the Room&Board Evans table with a glass top perhaps...

Thanks to all for your comments and suggestions. I wish I could implement them all NOW to see what works. I'm just REALLY slow at this.
