I'd recommend an artificial succulent, like a hens & chicks (echeveria), but I love hens & chicks. Succulents already have that kind of plastic-y appearance which lends them really well to the faux thing. Just did a quick search for you and found these: they're inexpensive enough so you can try them out, play and see.

We did a sort of terrarium-ish thingy with a tall cloche over it. The woman at the garden center warned us about excess humidity. I watered it once like a miser, and never watered again. It only gets the slightest bit of condensation during the hour that part of it sits in direct evening sun.

Diane James is lovely, but I am looking more for plants than flowers and none of heres are right.

Any other suggestions of similar quality?

I have some orchids from locally owned home stores that people think are real. I second the succulents. Sometimes PB and C&B carries them. Just don't get the shiny ones.

I think Horchow has some really nice options - expensive, but maybe worth it... they are under Faux Florals in Decor -

Look for NDI plants. They're considered top notch.

Try a craftstore such as Michael's, AC Moore or maybe even (shhhh) Walmart for fakes. Much of this stuff looks uh... really real.. HTH~PQ

Rather than a plant, i've made a bird nest(Spanish moss)and added a cute little bird. You can buy smaller nests, but I needed a bigger one, so decided I could make it. ;o)
