Did you try a google search? Overstock.com has lots of kitchen islands. My other suggestion was to see if you could find a carpenter who could probably make it or you without my difficulty. It looks very much like a kitchen island I picked up on either ebay or craigslist a couple of years ago and turned into a bath vanity. It's a pretty straightforward design so if you don't find exactly what you want; I bet you could have it made pretty easily and inexpensively. OH! My other idea was an unfinished furniture store.

How about this from Ikea: their Groland table. Comes unfinished, but I painted the legs of mine white, to match my cabinets, and oiled the butcher block and lower shelf. I also added another rail at the end for towels. I use it all the time - it's really solidly built, and was simple to assemble (I did it on my own, although needed help to turn it right-side up because of its weight).

Do you think it would be hard to replace the top with a marble top of any one of those?

Shouldn't be a problem at all. The IKEA one looks real close and so affordable. Since you have to assemble it, just dont' attach the top. If it requires some top for stability; I would think you could substitute a piece of 1/4" plywood and use that as a sub base of the marble. The fabricator can laminate the edge around it which they would do if you use a 2cm slab anyway.

The Ikea frame is very sturdy: attaching the top was the final piece of the assembly. I see no reason at all why a marble slab couldn't be used. I don't think you'd need to add anything else to the frame unless it made fixing the marble to the frame easier.

Adding a marble slab to the to would be easy. If you can find a remant from a fabricator, you may even be able to do it on the cheap. Good luck!

I'm working on a web site now and putting together samples of many cabinet styles and butcher block tops. I won't put up the web site until those are finished. The piece pictured above is an older piece I had sitting around. The newer version has slightly different proportions. The top is thicker, as are the slats and bottom rails. Also, the finish is different. There are many different configurations: closed cabinets; open pot racks on one end or both; cantilevered top for seating, etc., in many different finishes and styles. Pebbles81...I have a small kitchen and I found a great island at GoodWood Unfinished Furniture. It's a decent size, with storage, for $436. I couldn't find anything else to even compare (I wanted closed area on the bottom to hide clutter). I'll have to assemble (or pay additional $100) and finish, but that's no big deal.

Check your local Craigslist for the Ikea Groland island, if you want one. There are several on mine.
