Dupont Zodiac London Sky - Has anyone seen it in real life?
Comments (171)So I just called Corian and spoke with customer service. They said that everything as far as tone of background and colors of veining have remained the same. The veining was a more directional pattern for awhile but any slab that is made after 2019 will have more of the random veining in it. He said “ the veining issue was corrected”. Not sure if people were calling in and complaining, wanting old, random veining pattern back. Whatever the reason, the more random pattern will be in slabs made after the year 2019!! Comments (27)sugar - we have been told by several general contractors in our area that we have to go with engineered, rather than real wood, because of our constant weather and humidity changes. Engineered wood we were told can handle these changes, and humidity. I worry like you do about how busy acacia will be, but we have decided to do it, as it is dramatic, and we think beautiful. I looked at other wood that was suggested on this site, but going to stick with Acacia. They will install in a few weeks, and I can post pictures then. We really liked the Kentwood brand of wood (headquarters in Kent WA). The top layer is very thick, and we can sand a few times if needed. But we have been told, no one hardly ever sands the floors, by the time they need it, you usually are ready for a new updated change. Hope that helps....See MoreWhere's the dish drainer? Comments (142)Love this thread, it was so fun to read! DS thought the MIL’s house was BEAUTIFUL, “Especially the creepy lady in the corner because It’s so unique.” Years ago I started slowly (and obsessively) replacing anything that couldn’t go in the dishwasher with items that can. Smaller cookie sheets, glass/stainless measuring cups, silicone tools, etc. It took years of careful purchases and I kept a list and watched for sales because some of those items were pricey. The only thing I use on a daily basis that doesn’t go in my dishwasher now are sharp knives. Anyway, I just knew hand washing dishes would always be my weakness, but I’m great about loading the dishwasher every time I use something. So, pots and pans that do well in the dishwasher are my friends. My second weakness is unloading the dishwasher. That job became my kids’ first ever daily kitchen chore! Starting in preschool they did it together before school while I made breakfast. Now they switch off days. We make a great team! At Christmas my mom offered to wash crystal goblets and asked where my drying rack was. I do own one, but it collapses and was way at the back of the sink. After rummaging around to pull it out, and rinsing it off because it had dish soap on it, I gave it to her. She asked where a towel was to lay under it. That’s when I remembered that earlier that day I opened the towel drawer to find that half the towels had been used once and thrown back in the drawer with the clean ones by my kids. In annoyance I dumped them all in the wash, along with the ones in the bin in the laundry room, and I forgot to put them in the dryer. I told my mom it was fine to use the rack without a towel. It was NOT fine with my mom. She bought me 2 dish draining mats for Valentine’s Day, which is really only a gift holiday for romantic relationships. Whenever people are coming over and it’s messy I tell them they should feel complimented because I’m treating them like one of the family....See MoreQuestion for those who have met 'online' friends in real life ...
Comments (59)I have only met one person from this forum (Beekeeperswife-- who is lovely and fun!) . We got together fairly regularly for a bit but I was going through a tough time and our gatherings fell off and then she moved from the area. Sadly, I've lost touch. We didn't share much in common but that didn't get in the way of anything. Ive met a few groups from past online forums -- though those gatherings were 20+ yr ago, I never really had an issue with the meetings. I too had a few experiences like gooster where a man was interested in a different kind of relationship lol... but really, the things i found most uncomfortable were the instances where women wanted to be "besties" and were a little overbearing in trying to plan and schedule things together. This isn't limited to people Ive met online-- i have the same issues IRL. I am an introvert, i am busy and I don't love to fill my free time with social gatherings. I fiercely protect my downtime and that is off putting to people who don't know me well (and even some who do). Yeah, sorry, I got a little off track there-- I think meeting people from online is not so different--and in many cases easier than meeting people in a professional gathering or even a social gathering where you don't know many people. I have had many professional meetings or multi-day training sessions with groups where I know no one. I have never had an issue finding interesting people or kindred spirits and that makes it easier to participate in discussions/group dinners etc. Our group has the advantage of years of experience with each other. How many times do you find yourself thinking, "oh Sue would love this necklace" or "Mtn would love this tablescape" or "Outside would love this new thriller". I dont' know, maybe i am odd that way lol... but I do think of GWers through my days. I don't imagine anyone will be struggling for something to say-- shy or exuberant, everyone will have something to contribute to a conversation! Will everyone love each other? No, surely not-- but it's not like we love everyone we meet in our own communities-- but we do share common interests so we all have threads of connection! I think it's pretty unlikely that I will be able to join the group trip-- but that's more a function of my work (funding for my current project ends in Sept/Oct and by January I will be ramping up the next project). If i am able to make the trip, i will plan it in a way to allow me the things i need and want in a trip... primarily some solo time-- but what could possibly be better than a combo of time with myself (and/or with a partner) and time with a vibrant group of interesting women I've had the honor of getting to know over the last 15 yr?!! And where better to find an enabler to nudge me to buy that piece of art or jewelry I love but can't fully justify!!! Edited to add an apology for the length of my post! A combo of too much coffee and procrastinating my next task!...See MoreHolly- Kay
