you want the 'candle' to show...i don't think the shade looks too small-the problem with bigger shades is that they might hang too low...i am changing out my chandy shades to rh drum shades-significantly bigger than what i currently have, but wanted a change in look! i do have to change my lightbulbs tho...am putting in halogen bulbs that are taller and keep the shade from coming down too low on the 'candle'.

Elena, I just love your room! It's exotic and has passion and soul. It's marvelous. Here is a torchiere I like better for you. Or perhaps you like this one? Of coures this floor lamp would be yummy. If I had the money I'd get this one. I've always loved these. If you have a base for it (thrift store?) this handmade lampshade would be yummy on a floor lamp. I have a lampshade from this lady (even though I know how to make my own, so you know I really wanted it) and her quality is great -- I love mine. You could do a pair of these on your table lamps. Or, maybe you like this brown one? This red one is a lot like the one I bought. It sure is fun spending someone else's money! hehe I should stop. I have no idea if you'd like any of these. If you do, there are always more like this on eBay... be sure to look in people's shops for more styles.

Thanks for the help everyone. I bought these last fall at a very local, in town estate auction. They've been sitting on my storage shelves and I keep looking at them. I think I've gotten used to them being shadeless if that makes sense. Busybee, I'll investigate a taller harp or stretcher. Dlm, This camera is a bear to get good shots with. It's my youngest DD's and it's just a little coolpixs she likes to carry with her. It's light, easy to carry and she takes pictures and film of everything. She actually gets decent shots out of it. We kayak in the spring and my good camera bit the dust on a trip sadly, I need to replace it. Dee, I think I did put a picture of them up after I bought them asking for advice. I actually like the more casual shade, but I think because the lamp is more formal, most people would care for a more formal sahde. Cyn, if you get a chance .. would you take a picture of your lamp(s) with the black shades on them. I thought about black, but didn't know if it would be too dark for this room. I was looking at this thread again for pictures of my brass lamps. I am not too happy with the adorable crystal lamps I bought on Ebay (good price but expensive shipping... and I paid extra for the lamp shades) since despite being too cute, I can't seem to find a place in my home for them. I may take pictures and see if anyone on this list wants them for what I paid for them. Everyone that sees them falls in love with them but my new stereo I just bought is so modern with the piano black speakers. Maybe I will find a place in the room.... I had also bought another antique crystal lamp from the same seller to save on shipping. I am finding out that I am more of a modern, traditional girl with a touch of country, a touch of traditional and a touch of victorian. I love antiques in the homes of others but I am finding out I like newer things that are not old. I guess I am learning my style. I still love the modern crystal lamps that I bought at fortunoff, especially the pair of Hannah Lamps that I put on the double dresser with flowers in the middle thanks to Squirrel's visuals. I will have to post pics of my satin brass lamps in my other room that I loved in their until I just recently bought the white wicker dresser and now I wish I had white lamps. That are beautiful but I am learning that things must go in the room and not just be a beautiful object. :) I sold my friend my perfect stereo that was perfect in every way but was too big for the room for a smaller book shelf stereo that looks better in the room but has so many less features and sounds very nice but not as good. I guess I can't have everything. :) It has a silver receiver and black speakers that looks good in the room but now the brass lamps look out of place.
