They don't deliver to you? Wow, I thought they delivered everywhere. Does that mean that West Elm or Crate & Barrel also would not deliver? Off the top of my head, they would probably have something similar and not too expensive.

Have you checked ebay? Do a search for mid century side table and you might find something vintage that fits the bill. I've had a lot of excellent results buying furniture off of ebay, but I steer clear of selelr who has less than a 99.5% rating.

Thanks guys. The last one just posted has possibilities, but is not tall enough. The others are a bit on the traditional side and wouldn't really work. Oh, I like #3 justgotabme. It's not the right colour, but for that price I could certainly repaint it couldn't I ?

I'll also keep an eye out on ebay, but I'm a bit worried about shipping costs. I think I will try scouring our local antique dives this weekend and see if I can find anything similar to #3 and if not possibly ordering.

Thanks so much homemaker - you should go into business. I could keep you hopping! Unfortunately, DH vetoed the PB table. He does like the one justgotbme posted but is worried about quality at that price. It is good to know that if we do find something in TO we've got a way to get it.

budge, have you thought about making your own? The third one I posted would be very easy to copy with common millwork you can find at a local lumber yard and lamp parts. Which you might also find locally too. Granted you'd probably not find the exact pedestal, but could use a newel post for that part. If it weren't hollow you'd have to buy a long drill bit at least half the length to place a threaded rod into for attaching it all together. I know I've seen pine circles in a number of sizes at Home Depot that could be used for the top.

Hmmmmmm, now there is an idea. I do love a project.

I've never seen the pine circles at our home depot, but I'll look again. Also, you know you don't have to drill all the way thru. They sell big screw like things (notice my real carpenter terminology) about 4 or 5" long, that screw into both top and bottom. I used them to atttach the new feet to the old sofa.

I also need help on a new lamp, artwork and other stuff, so I think I will take some pics and start a new thread.
