There is a big difference, brick's post was false because he answered viche's question absolutely wrong. My post is correct. You just have a problem with the way I worded it, and I think it was because you hadn't read the thread or you had failed to pay attention to the conversation that was going on, and then began to jump to conclusions about what it meant. I agree I could've worded it better but again I didn't realize someone would have issue with the wording, especially after I had been basically asked to clarify what I meant, I did so a couple of times , and each time they still went back to argue that it didn't matter that I clarified what I had originally said but that the first post was wrong and therefore I was in the wrong, when in reality they just didn't realize that it was a correct post within the context of the thread. That's just weak and thats why I found issue with the way you handled it.

Thanks. Ronnatalie, the space for the oven is under the counter top. So a double oven is out of question. Also, we came from a double oven to a single oven, so there is already a #8 wire somewhere else in the kitchen that I capped off on both ends (kitchen and sevice panel). Shall we remodel the kitchen again, hopefully not ;), we can always tap into that one. I will pull out the 12/3, put in 10/3 and leave the 20amp breaker in the service panel. Brickeyee, sorry for the terminology. It is a double pole, the two levers are linked and the breaker occupies two slots in the service panel.

You probably need wet rated conductors if this is an outdoor installation. For any outside parts you need to use an insulated ground and NOT 8-3 cable with a ground bare in the sheath (the code does allow such for inside runs). If the breaker in the main panel is 40A, then the 50A GFCI serves as a GFCI and an oversized disconnect (which you need anyhow within sight of the maintenance point on the tub).
