Am I the only one getting these pop-ups?

EVERY TIME I click to read a post, I get a pop-up from "zedo.com." I even got one when I clicked to type this message. No one else has said anything about it, so could I be the only one? It's sooooo irritating!

Are you running Firefox ?
I run FF w/YesScript..
Never a pop-up.

I turned YesScript off and saw that annoying Zedo.

Don't know about everyone else, but I use AdBlock Plus. It's a Firefox extension that blocks ALL advertisements and popups.
The other day I was troubleshooting (trying to figure out why I can't see pictures uploaded from one's computer. I CAN see them if their linked from an online photo hosting site) Anyway, I had all my FF extensions disabled. There are so many ads and crap moving around, I kept getting distracted and couldn't read. It's like watching TV with no commercials :)

Bruce, I don't "know" either, but I think you might be right about the internal clock being thrown off. When you posted before, I didn't respond because you mentioned that your garage was drafty and that undermines the possibility that I was considering. Plants are aware of their surroundings. And it isn't just day length. They react to to many stimuli, some of which probably haven't even been identified yet. Many are familiar (temperature, daylength, etc.) and some less so (movement, and day-night temperature differential for examples). These last two are used to keep plants compact. Commercial growers can use vibrating benches instead of growth regulators to keep plants from stretching. Think of a plant outside; it is constantly moved by the wind. Picture trees on the top of a high mountain - bent and dwarfed by constant wind. It makes sense, but not many people think about movement affecting plants. But it is the other example that I think might be the problem with heavily wrapped plants inside - the day-night temperature differential (DIF). In nature the sun goes down and the temperature drops. Plants expect it. If a plant is deprived of the usual temperature difference it can cause dwarfing. It's a powerful technique to keep a plant small, but must be used carefully. If the differential is too small for the particular plant or if it becomes negative (warmer at night) you can get all kinds of problems. If humans are deprived of sleep, they'll die. The same type of thing can happen with a plant. Your heavily wrapped figs were declining and dying. But you said the garage was drafty and I thought that the temperature inside was probably fluctuating enough to rule out this explanation. I don't know. Does this make any sense in your case?

bronwynsmom...I am getting the pop ups also and they get in the way of my trying to change from one forum to another! Annoying YES...I even have a program that usually blocks pop-ups, but not here. I imagine it is sanctioned by GW as a form of money making advertisement. Just my guess, but I think they do have control over it and that they have choosen to have them. Good seeing you !

No, you're not alone... (LOL) I purchased a jumbo-sized box (500-ft.) of 18-inch heavy-duty foil at Sam's Club, which should be enough for the rest of my life since I reuse what I wrap my loaves of bread in destined for the freezer. Eighteen inches is such a handy size for those loaves. I also have 18-inch plastic wrap I use to cover large pans of dinner rolls, cinnamon rolls or sandwich buns while they are proofing. Being totally frugal, I fold it up and stick it in the freezer and reuse it as well. I purchased a bunch of boxes at Big Lots at a ridiculously low price, but I can also get large boxes of it at Sam's Club as well. My other must-have items are boxes of Foil Sheets in a pop-up box -- 500 12x10-3/4-inch sheets (I think these are also used in beauty shops), and the box of Kabnet Wax Premium Weight Interfolded Deli Paper, also sold at Sam's Club. -Grainlady

In the last 2 years we've completely gutted and redone 4 bathrooms. They were all red and green saltillo tile and used to look cheap and cartoonish. The bathroom are now neutral, but far from boring. My theme for the new bathrooms was modern moroccan. I love color and have a red sofa, orange chairs, teal headboard, lots of color in upholstery and drapes, etc, but having the permanent items in the house be such strong/bossy colors is just too much.

I don't know if I'm running Firefox as my IT son sets everything up for me with strict orders that I NOT download a thing without checking with him first. Guess I'll give him a call and ask that he pay me a little visit this weekend. ;)) Thanks for the info.

Glad to know it's not just me. I've been getting them starting today so something must have changed on GW because no changes to my computer. Pages taking longer to load too. Will try some of your suggestions. Thanks.

If you are using Firefox, go to tools, click on Add-ons, type Ad-Block in the search bar and install it. You won't see any ads at all.

I kept hearing about using Firefox instead of Internet Exlorer from my DD, and then here on GW. Finally made the switch to it about a year ago and wish I'd done it sooner. Using Mozilla Firefox and its add-on called Adblock, there are no ads all over the page and popping up. Yes, it's really true. And if your IT son didn't set that up for you, tell him sujafr said, "shame on him!" But it's not to late to redeem himself. Or you can just google it and do it yourself.
